You guys need to get out more or what? It’s not going to be that cold unless your homeless with no sleeping bag hahah

 

Last year we had a few guys that were not prepared for how cold it was. It was the coldest in the years we have been going. This year everyone is getting ready for the cold weather, just wait it will be hot all weekend.

 

Well you always need to have that one experience to learn to be prepared. My first time thinking “ I’ll be good I got these 30* bags and blanket”....yea it got down to 10* and snowed. That sucked

 

What was wrong with his third member? I know he had an air leak. Was that from the unit itself?

How did he isolate it to a seal? I’m asking because my compressor has started to intermittently kick on when the locker is activated and it used to not do that. I assumed my fitting into the diff had some play but it doesn’t.

 

That'll be fine, just put in some really heavy weight gear oil and go. I ran my brand new $1600 9" 3rd member out to the desert for it's first 200 miles.

 

I ended up changing my sleeping setup and no longer need this set up. I loved the set up but the wife wants more headroom. Anyone interested before I post on the for sale section? $50 OBO thick Maple top with 2 supports underneath that are notched to fit the bed. Fits a long bed but can easily be cut for short bed. The pull out droor is included if you want it. Amateur made hence why I am selling for less than what the wood cost me. lol I also have an expensive kush mattress that fits over this perfectly if interested I might cut a good deal.

Where did you here it was a bad batch? My locker has the same problem. The leak is at the internal bonded seal on the locker. I've been in contact with Chase at ECGS and have talked to him at length about it. They have built a test jig to be able to view the leak with the locker out of the diff. If they turn the seal 180 degrees they have the leak pops up in the same spot on the seal. So it follows the seal not the housing. That effectively means it's an issue with the seals not the housing.

To my knowledge ARB has never acknowledged the issue. If they have, and have a serial range of effected units, that means that they would have to issue a recall. That's something they are not going to do. ECGS does 70% of ARB's US sales. It's easier for ARB to let ECGS handle the few that have problems then issue a full recall.

As far as replacing the seals in the seal housing it's a piece of cake. If those are what's leaking just pull the diff, pull the retainer clip that holds the seal housing in place. Carefully slide out the seal housing. Its attached to the copper line so be careful not to kink it. Pull out the two old seals and put in two new seals. I replaced mine to eliminate them as the source of my leak. The old ones where fine so I kept them for trail spares.
