As most, I've been dealing with the bucking between 40-50mph, and it's driving me nuts. I've been to the dealer multiple times now, the new update that just came out not long ago was put onto the truck. The update solved my issues w/the non stop shifting on the highway, but the bucking got even worse w/the update. I travel for work (traveling welder) and many of these roads I'm on are between 40-50mph, so that's where the frustration comes into play.

If this was something for me to fight, would it fall under a lemon law with the issue? Also, IF that was something I fought for, would it be worth me just going with the Manual if a trade is offered by chance? Or decline, and go a different vehicle all together? I LOVE my Tacoma, but the bucking/stuttering has finally pushed my last button today. I think 6 trips in 10 months should be plenty of time for the dealership to figure something out, aside just telling me "it's normal"

I reside in Maine, and it's all hills and mountains in my area. You can see my frustration when driving this, especially when my 2018 Pro 4Runner has 0 issues at all.

Same with mine...Ive been trying “no Ethanol “ gas and its made a huge difference (gets better after 2 full tanks). Now I’m just hoping Toyota comes out with a better software update to correct the issue so I can go back to the cheap gas. I heard they are aware of the issue and working on a fix.

I had a previous vehicle (ford) lemon law’d and in order to do so I had to have the issue attempted to be fixed 3 times prior. Not sure if this is the same for new(er) vehicles. Mine was 5-6 years old at the time.

They pulled my Toyota Vehicle record today at the dealership. 6 attempts to get it fixed w/no success.

They're taking it Tuesday to look into the Bucking at 40-50mph, the clunking when I come to a stop and it's not fully warmed up, and the rumble strip feeling if i use more than 50% throttle when accelerating from 0. Really hoping they get this figured out, or I'm going to request I get put into a manual version. Owned truck a year, non stop problems for the year, and getting all 3 ECU updates as they came out. I'm tired of dealing with this. $40k for non stop issues. Ugh. Sadly, I still love my truck though.

Then you should definitely contact a lemon law attorney! Sorry to hear you’re having so much issues with it

I'll see how Tuesday goes, and thankfully it's all on record. If nothing, I'll be contacting whomever I need to, in order to get this fixed. I'll give them a heads up before doing so, hopefully they'll work with me. I paid original dealership to install Sunroof, Heated Seats, Exhaust, Lift, Wheels, Tires, Blacked out Windows, Tonneau, as I wanted to keep it all dealer maintained and under warranty. Gonna be pissed if i take a hit on all of that. (didn't want tech package, not a HUGE fan of having my vehicle tell me how to drive, nor having more sensors to go wrong in time.)

If it ends up getting lemon law’d you should get reimbursed for EVERYTHING and I got to keep the car and sell it private party. (I made the person well aware of the car’s situation and sold it well under kbb so I would feel good about it) so I ended up making a 1.5x profit on the situation.

But the lemon law process takes 4-6 months... at least it did for me.

I've heard that from 4 of the 5 dealers I have visited. This last one said that's not normal at all, and they were actually serious in helping me out. I've just met my end, I can't deal with this anymore. $700 a month for a truck I'm not 100% happy with.

I received the one for the 40-50mph fix, but it actually fixed the Highway issues, and made the 40-50mph issues worse.

Yea, they said they're having their Master Mechanic look at it Tuesday, and having a meeting between the Service Manager, master mechanic and Toyota on the phone to see if they can get a tech here this week and look at it. They know i'm pissed, but I didn't put any of that on them at all. I was as polite as could be, but made sure they knew my extreme frustration with it.

You're not alone. I just got a 2018 OR and it sounds like someone is blowing a kazoo under the truck. "It's normal" was the latest response from corporate after the TSB was unsuccessful. Absurd.

I've seen that can be a few things from the holes in the Control Arms, to low fluid in the rear end from Factory. Find a different dealer until you get one who will actually help.

I've got the diff howl. It's obnoxious. TSB didn't work. I don't know how they can call something "normal" when they've issued a fix for the problem itself. It seems by issuing the TSB, it's inherent that it's not normal? Call me crazy, I guess.

Dealer says they can't do anything without approval from Corporste at this point. Absolute BS.

(FYI-- LCA holes are plugged from the factory now).

Ahh, didn't know the holes were plugged now. Nice. No more highway hums from there. I'd really suggest finding another dealer. They're all different. The last 2 tried to blame everything on my 2" lift & leveling kit and larger tires. thankfully the guy down here has a 17 tacoma with a 3" lift and even bigger tires than i have, and he was like "Yea... I've had zero issues at all.....it's definitely your truck"

Like you, OP, I've tried to be "nice" in dealing with the dealer. I realize they're caught in the middle. I have no doubt they'd help me if they could. There simply isn't a fix for my problem. Hope you see some positive results. If not, sounds like you've got a legitimate lemon law case there.

They are stuck in the middle, but at the same time, some of them are just useless, as I've seen. I'm a travel welder, so I never usually see the same dealer twice. I had a dealer back this past spring when the update came out tell me I wasn't a candidate for it and couldn't help me. I drove to the next town over to another toyota dealership, and it was done in an hour. Don't put all eggs in 1 basket. Fish around, and be stubborn as hell until it's fixed. $40k is a bit of money to have pissed away on a vehicle that you're not happy with and know there's issues.
