I have an auto 4x4 Off Road 3rd gen, I’m considering trading in for a manual or buying a Subaru WRX.

However with the OVTune twin turbo I’m thinking about keeping the auto and just installing that or the OVTune.

What would you guys do? I really want a manual Tacoma but don’t wanna lose my ass on trade

You will lose your ass if you trade. Depending on what year it is and payments, you could start working a deal around the 2 year mark, but you will not come out on top.

Just a matter of how much you like giving Toyota money.

My buddy just traded his 15 in for a used 17 wrx haha.

Sell the taco privately if you're really worried.

Speed and power just don't go with tacoma, even with 100hp more its still a truck. The old supercharged 4.0 models were dull to drive and they were a lot cheaper to put together. The idea of a turbo is neat but a pipe dream for 99% of the users here.

I have had a manual 2009 Tacoma. Not a big deal. And you said something about a sports car and then you said a WRX. I thought you meant a REAL sports car.

Depends on what you want. I was between the manual Tacoma and a WRX. I chose the Tacoma because it fit my needs. Do you want ground clearance and the ability to tackle more terrain or deep snow? Pick the Tacoma. Do you want a fun to drive car that can handle light snow or occasional loose dort or sand? Pick the WRX

I was in the same boat, still kinda am.. I’m at a point in life where I don’t necessarily need a pickup. Been debating selling a truck for an Evo X, somewhat practical, 4 door, awd and lots of fun can be had with fi car with mild mods.. my wife says I’m crazy.. though I’m sure I can pester her enough to change her mind

The WRX is hardly fast or really a sports car..you’d be disappointed and the reliability is down from the Tacoma. Stick with the truck.

Do you need a truck? The last few outings in my Civic showed me just how impractical a car was for me right now.

I had a 14 hatch WRX and now an 18 taco. I’m just indecisive honestly.

I traded my 06 STI for my 16 Tacoma limited. I'd say if you want something fast it makes sense to buy something with a v8, they're easier to make big power with. The STI was fast compared to the Taco but if I was in the market for a sporty car right now on a budget (because the WRX/STI are only fast or sporty compared to regular cars) I'd probably keep my taco hold on a couple years and pick up a c6 z06 corvette. in my area they're around the 30k mark. Faster, sportier, and cheaper than a new STI.. I miss my STI quite a bit but I have learned that I miss the manual transmission experience more then the car itself.. good luck

Keep the truck and get a used S2000, Boxster S or Cayman S, BMW m3, or any number of bad ass sports cars for $15-30K.

Want to own the highway ? Keep the Tacoma or get a bigger truck.

Want to fight for your lane space on the highway ? Get a small car.

For the cost of a 3rd gen you could have a pretty nice early 2nd gen and a pretty fast mid 90's - mid '00's Miata.

    A car with more than 2 seats isn't a sports car. :p
