Squeaky Clutch Pedal...

My clutch pedal is starting to squeak now whenever I push it in. At first it only did this whenever it was really cold outside, but now it's starting to do this on a regular basis. I'm just curious if anyone else with a manual has had this problem? I'm also wondering if it enough to take it to the dealer to fix or just grease/oil it myself. Thanks in advanced guys.

 

Mine squeaks when I first get in the truck after work and it's hotter than hell. After the AC cools everything down it stops. I don't remember it squeaking during the winter.

I think there maybe a TSB covering a squeaky clutch pedal.

yea my 08 reg cab was doing the same thing and the dealer just replaced the whole clutch petal assembly no problems at all


jst print the TSB and bring it to them

 

Interesting that they did the tsb on your 08 because according to the PDF it's only for the 05-06 models and everything after that should have the new assembly already in it. Maybe I'll bring it up next time I go it because mine squeaks sometimes.

 

are you sure whether the squeak is coming from the inside of the truck or the outside... i have an 06 manual and it does the same thing... there is a boot on the side of the tranny..drivers side... which i pull back and spray some lube on and it stops the squeak for about 6 months but if its on the inside then no clue

 

My old 4Runner had the same problem... A little white lithium grease on the turnover spring area cleared it up for good.

 

I keep having this re-occurring squeaking on my clutch pedal too. I keep getting under there when it gets bad (usualy when it hot weather) and try to spray it with silicone or something else. It goes away for a while and come back again.
I looked at the TSB on it, does anyone no if that will cover my '07 ?? The TSB posted here in this thread cover '05-'06. Thanks.

 

The clutch pedal in my '05 squeaks quite a bit when the interior of the truck is hot. I'd agree that it is annoying, but when I have the radio on I can't hear it anyway.

Speaking of clutch pedals, does anyone else's do this?.......

Do you think the pivot point needs new bushings or what? I'm used to it now, but when I first got the truck I had a hard time letting out on the clutch smoothly.

My clutch pedal began squeaking/creeking one night in stop and go traffic. When i got home i reached under the clutch pedal and noticed a loose nut on the clevis assembly (look at step # 14 on page 6 of the TBS. Its the nut on the right side of gap "A"). I tightented it as much as i good with my hand. The noise went away mostly and the truck was MUCH easier to shift! I thought i was just getting sloppy with my shifts and jerking the truck alot, but tightening this nut helped a bunch!

My problem now is i can tell when the nut loosens again (happens about a week after i tighten it). The squeaking noise does not come back, but my shifting gets sloppy again.

I'm glad i found this forum and this post especially. I have an '08 Tacoma, but i'm gonna print this out and take it to my dealership to have it fixed.

Mine started doin this. Shot a dab of silicone on it yesterday to shut it up but I'm sure it'll be back before getting around to greasin it up. Again with the over 36k no tsb for me since purchased with more miles thing. Not so impressed with the plastic pedal. Suppose it saves on gas mileage due to it being so much lighter but I'm sure it's main appeal was cheaper manufacturing costs. Woohoo, grease & go until it works no mo fo sho!

 

i need to check this stuff out my clutch pedal is squeeking like crazy, i tried spraying lube around all the pivot points, didn't do the trick, anyone else having this issue?

 

Yeah, lube doesn't work. I had the same issue until I tightened the push rod that goes into the master cyclinder. All you have to do is hand tighten it or you can use a pair of pliers. Hope that works for you. It's under your clutch pedal and I just tightened the shaft, not the nut.

 

I did the same thing. Tried greasin it and sprayed WD-40 and nothing's workin. I took it into the dealer when i was still under warranty and they replaced the whole pedal assemble and it stopped for about 2 months. Then it came back.

 

Good to know. I had my pedal assembly replaced under warranty a couple of months ago after lube failed to work. The squeaking hasn't resurfaced, but if it does, I'll be sure to try that.

Took mine in for the same thing, they said it was a throw out bearing.

830- to replace. Screw that, I can get used to the squeak.
