actual install time was less than 3 min. About 2 min worth of pre install checks. Very easy. Took me longer to get all my hardware setup, including buying a used laptop with a non-functioning screen, Tactrix cable, VGA cable to run between a monitor and the laptop and extension cable plus surge protector.

There are computer programs out there where you allow someone control over your computer so they can perform the task.

Yeah. I waited a week for the laptop to arrive and came with a worn out LCD screen with the white screen of doom. Luckily I had my old Desktop monitor and plugged in just long enough to get the update installed.

Our garage was full junk so I ran the extension cord with a surge protector from the garage to the driveway. I had the the laptop sitting on the driver seat and the monitor laying flat on top of a laundry basket so I could see what I was doing standing directly over it. You can see part of it in this pic.

Anyone in vegas got the setup to do this update? Or a suggestion of which dealer will do it?

I would say yes. What appealed to me most is the reduced rev hang and improved throttle response. This helps accelerate and shift quicker. This is useful especially in city traffic with impatient automatic car drivers that like to ride your rear bumper really close and get closer still when you have to wait forever to make the 1>2 shift and you're losing speed and momentum. if you got a PC you can do this, you just really need the Tactrix cable.

    Yes.

It's really not that hard and only takes a few minutes for a permenant difference for the better.

@specter208 was just showing off :D

Has anyone noticed with the updated ecu a stumble in first gear. Temps are colder in the mornings for me now and I def. get a hard stumble at about 2500 rpm or so. Does not exhaust when truck is warm. I’m not complaining just curious if others have noted this.

Yes, but it doesn't seem to cause any significant power delay. It is a gentle reminder of how weird it was most of the time before the update.

Somewhere back in the middle of this thread somebody said they were able to get it done at Coon Rapids or Brooklyn Park (?) here in the Cities. I tried Rudy Luther in Golden Valley when I went in for my 5k service, no dice. The Techstream guy wasn't there or some such BS. Gonna set up an appointment to have them hook it up to the computer when I go in for the 10k service in a month or so. If that won't go and Toyota hasn't fixed the wording for the TSB I'll cough up the dough for a Tactrix and do it myself. If I go that route I'll let definitely let you know.

I believe it was Coon Rapids.

I'm getting mine hopefully in a couple weeks from now at Walser in Bloomington and assuming it'll have the latest updates from the factory, but I'll be double-checking when it does come in for sure.

UPDATE: I do a lot of Highway driving and have definitely noticed a difference since the update.
Before the update, shifting into 2nd gear was always a pain because as soon as you let off the clutch, RPMs would instantly fall and it would force me to either stay in 1st. longer or have a rough shift and lack of power and wait for the RPMs to ramp up again in 2nd. Now, the RPMs seem to stay in the right spot through every shift. Down shifting, throttle response is better when blipping the throttle but it's no sports car so don't expect it be be instant.
There's one incline on the highway I have been taking and before, I would have to downshift into 4th just keep to the speeds up around 110 kms. Now I am able to stay in 6th constant and maybe occasionally shift to 5th but other than that, this truck is driving like a dream like how it was supposed to drive in the first place!

Hope this helps! Bless up people.
