It’s not necessarily a “home gym”. I use it for clients and they basically pay for my 2 other gym memberships so it’s worth it :D

I don’t really see the point of home gyms, other than convenience really. Gyms get you more equipment, motivation, and spotters.

Y’all are crazy. Empty gyms are the best, it’d be even better if I didn’t have to drive to get there. I could take my time between sets, not listen to shitty music, throw chalk wherever I please, and not have to go through the pain of watching some dipshit quartersquat 225. Plus some old guy just joined and he stands right the fuck in front of the big industrial fan in the corner, blocks all the moving air, and does his kettlebell squats with a 15pound kettlebell and crop dusts everyone with his beet juice farts.

I don't have enough garage space for a home gym.

Maybe if I had a 7 car garage and enough room for two trucks, the Jeep, the Honda, my shops (detail and workshop), and I had a 1 car garage left, I could do a home gym.

You aren't going to the right gym if you can't do that already

The only gym he should be able to throw chalk where he wants is a gym he cleans.

    This.

I have an okay home gym. It just collects dust. Most of the days working out at home (when I used to) have always sucked. I don’t think I’ve ever hit a PR at home.

Which reminds me I need to sell it all. Maybe just keep a bar and some bumper plates for a rainy day.

Lately I could say my home gym is landscaping and house renovations.

Its the most expensive gym membership I’ve ever had.
    Shittiest results too.

    Its worse than cross fit.

The joys of home ownership..one room at a time I've ripped my house down to the studs and started over. Needed insulation, wiring, floors, you name it.

Luckily the bones and main life lines in the house are fine. House is only 12 years old.
But every room needs to be entirely redone (to include new flooring and trim). We (and by we I mean me) did the main part of the home before we moved in now were going room by room. Next is the master bath. We have mold growing up through the vinyl thats there. Its gonna be good times.

In the meantime I’m doing all this I’m getting requests from the SO for custom built in bar, shudders, shelves, etc. My free time is booked out the next 18 months LOL.

    Damn you Pinterest!

Word from the wise to all you unmarried people. Don’t let your future SO know you are good at anything, because if you do... it will become your job forever.

When I bought my house, I couldn't do much more than pound nails and carry stuff. My wife has forgotten more about how to do this stuff than I could ever learn.

Mine was built in 1931 or 1933..nuff said..

Well I used to do construction here and there in undergrad and the first part of grad school for cash before I got hurt and had to quit for awhile. So I know how to do things. Now I just lie and say I can’t do shit. “Can you move the water lines and dryer vent 3 foot down the wall?”
    “No. No I can’t”

I used to want an old 100 year old farmhouse with a wood burner and a canning basement but that shit is a lifestyle. You spend all your money on the house.
    They are incredible homes though.

I’d love to build my own house from the ground up one day. Obviously on no sort of serious timeline.

For better or worse, I have learned a lot over 14 years now. More because I don't have the money to just contract it out, but it is what it is I suppose.

I guess if you were retired or had one person home all the time, the farmhouse thing is a little different. My friend loves canning but she's a stay at home mom.

For me, I'd like to move south some day. My parents are here and won't hear of moving though..

I’ll rarely ever pay anyone to do anything. People just charge too much.
Despite my griping, I really do love projects and building things.

Its great when you can step back from a reno and you know you did it yourself.

Plus most stuff really isn’t hard. Its just time.

For the most, I agree. I can roll up my sleeves and do it myself if I have the knowledge. Fortunately my second job of running dart leagues has put a lot of tradesmen in my life as well, met my electrician there for instance.

Does anyone recommend any good routines for building muscle/strength that do not include deads, squats, or rows as like a must do exercise?

I’m looking to build mass but not ready to go back to the main 5.

Would be ideal if anyone knows of any plans that aren’t excessive in volume. I’ve tried Arnolds Blueprint and programs with a ton of exercises pretty much just burn me out.

I like Wendler’s simplicity but of course its all powerlifting based.

It’s hard to find simplistic bodybuilding plans. I don’t want to be at the gym for two hours.

Although this is probably more powerlifting style, you can try Scott Hermans cheat and recover method which emphasizes more on volume. I don't body build but I so put extra volume sets after my 531 program just because it feels too easy per se.

Pulled 465 today. 10 lb PR.

    So:
    365 skwat
    465 dead
A legit 275 bench, 295 went up but my ass flew, so...
