I'd settle for an engine that was actually cleaned before assembly at the factory, a dipstick in the tranny, actual springs to support the hood, ala 20th century, and the cruise control button on the end of the turn signal stalk. Oh, and an oil pressure gauge. One that actually works, like in my GMC.

There is zero excuse for metal shavings in the oil filter in a new engine. You do realize that the oil WITH the chips has to go thru the oil pump before it gets to the filter. Imagine what happens when these shavings and crap come in contact with the aluminum housing of the oil pump.

...put bad tasting wire insulation on all those pretty little exposed wires running all over our trucks? :annoyed:

What really grinds my gears is that Toyota didn't personally consult me during the design phase of the 3rd gen so they could build the truck exactly how I wanted it.

Of course, then we'd all be rolling around in a truck that's the size of a 1st-gen Tacoma, but has the 5.7 V8 of a Tundra. Or maybe the flat-4 out of an 86. And of course it'd be a double cab, so the bed could only be like 4 feet max. Basically a slightly higher-riding Subaru Baja with one sensible engine option, and one insane engine option.

Can't say I'd add the handles, though. I get along fine without them.

EDIT: Now that I'm thinking about it, a smaller V8 would be a nice option for the Tacoma. Maybe the Tundra 4.6? More powerful than the 3.5 V6, but not as thirsty (or huge) as the 5.7 V8.

...make the automatic with a 4:30 diff...?? (Or option)

Good. I was pissed I paid for form fit floor mats from Toyota and the passenger one ended up all the way up the firewall....

I have slipped several times on a wet surface and a grab handle (like in my past trucks) would have been great.

Also, about 10 years ago, my ex left my new truck brake off and the truck was staring to roll to toward the house.

I ran like hell to stop the truck and slipped on the wet grass again and that grab handle saved my ass from going under the front wheel.

That was a weird experience as I was pulling myself up to keep from going under the front tire.

It probably would not have killed me, but it might have crushed a leg or a pelvis and screwed me up for life.

Because those are common occurrences that Toyota should have thought about. In my whole life I’ve never seen anyone use one other then to hold it while driving, just because it’s there.

I was cleaning out storage today and hauling things and maybe got in my truck l0 or 15 times. Each time I grabbed the wheel (and would have used a grab handle). My worker-helper buddy used his passenger grab handle each time he got in.

I was super tired (Fitbit said 32,000 steps today) and that grab handle would have been super at the end of today.

So much for that ... :deadhorse: ... maybe I am the only person that misses it ... :D
