I'll echo some of the major points to consider that have already been mentioned.

    1. First and foremost, decide if you actually *need* a truck. I need a truck to haul stuff (mostly from Home Depot and camping gear (brand new camper here, LOL)).
1a. If you need the truck, keep the truck. So now, that moves to deciding if it REAAAAALY needs to be standard... If you can't stand it *and* can handle the potential ass-jammery, trade/sell that pig and go in on a manual.
    2. If the answer to number one was "No, I don't need a truck, I wanna go fast and ride on rails", get rid of it and get into whatever you deem suitable. Subaru, corvette whatever, decide to make the move and plan from there.
2a. If the answer to question one was "Yes, I need a truck but I still wanna go fast and ride on rails", then a turbo is likely to make the truck faster off the line, but dealing with traction issues and handling like... a truck... I think you might still be left wanting.

My, personal, conclusion... Keep the truck, buy a used (whatever) and beef it up. Nothing remotely affordable comes off the line really fast and fun. I have the tacoma for toting bikes and camping gear around, and my wife has an STI for zipping around town, it's a reasonable combo.

You are half right. It is a muscle car, but they are far more than straight line performance these days, and have been for a couple decades. You might want to look up the 1LE Nürburgring times.

haha "exciting" might be a better word for it.

I'll admit, the rental POS Nissian Versa I had was a blast to drive like I stole it. It probably off-roaded more than some Tacoma's on here. I'm pretty sure I got some air a couple of times.

I think it boils down to the fact that “sports car” means different things to different people. If you can race it and can crush Cobras, Corvettes, Ferraris, and Vipers etc. you definitely have a sports car. But people will always draw their own opinions.

Frankly nowadays the battery cars are crushing all engines. That new Tesla roadster is the fastest production car 0-60 in history.

The roadster seems aimed at people who barely dip their toes in the water of sports cars. Who doesn’t appreciate the raw sound of a turbocharged or V8 engine? Going fast in a quiet car where all I hear is wind sounds boring..and I’m sure it does to many people. Tesla will never be able to replace the joy of driving a fast gas powered car as it screams down the road.

Exactly. Who wants to hear the whir of an electric motor. Not me. Sports cars should always have a minimum of a V8.

I don’t like em myself, but they ARE the future. All their torque happens instantly and they can play with dodge demons on the strip.

Ehhhhh arguable. They’re going to be more common no doubt about that but the fact that they’ll eliminate the demand for dodge demons or the higher end makes like Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bugatti, Koenigsegg, and all the other big ones is doubtful. An electric car will simply never replace the joy of a gas engine. Gas powered cars will always be around, the government may implement something to where it limits the production but I don’t foresee that any time soon.

Ever since I upgraded my corvettes air intake system it makes the V8 sound a lot better:thumbsup:
