Alright, so Im adding on to this because 103 pages is a lot to go through to find my answer.... Ive got a 2010 sr5 trd sport and my overhead panel is working but it does a really weird thing when I start it up. It gives a combination of codes like C1... C2... P3... P4... P5 and then the temp is stuck at 2ºF and -16ºC and the compass says cal N........ I have absolutely no idea what to do. Any ideas?

Sometime a while back I had attempted the repair, with what I thought was the correct resistors, but the readout was dim, but did work. Someone on TW pointed out that I had actually used 510 Ohm but I needed 51 Ohm instead.
Fast forward to today and I just switched out the resistors, and when I plugged it in to test, before reinstalling the entire assembly, I see nothing at all....

    Thoughts TW?
Top 2 pictures are new today:

the bottom picture is my first/ previous attempt, with what I was told were the wrong resistors:

Uh, green, brown, orange? That's 51,000 ohms. You need green, brown, black.

Oi..... both times I thought I had ordered 510 Ohms.

I see now this is 51K Ohms, and da... that would be 51,000 Ohms... i'm an idiot.

    IMG_0101.jpg

What do you make of this? R-A0.25W/510 ? These worked, but the readout was Dim.....

Make another pot of coffee and get some 51 ohm resistors.

Does it matter what orientation these are installed?

Ha, agreed...and as mentioned, polarity doesn't matter with resistors. Just make sure to get close to 51 ohms per component....47 ohm would also work fine (and result in a slightly brighter display...although it may not be noticeable).

-make sure you don't short out to any of the nearby circuit pads....use a magnifying glass after you are done if your eyes are as bad as mine these days.

-be careful with the solder / desolder technique as the pads underneath the resistors can pull up. I've had to repair a few too many boards where the pads were torn.

And after another 11 days of shipping straight out a China.... we have FULL Success!!

If anyone needs some "51 Ohm Resistors" I have a bunch.... $1 each plus shipping.

I've already fixed mine 3 times. I'm going to order 83290-04030. Supposed to be a revised part replacing 83290-AD010.

New part does come with the black tinted cover btw. New part cost me $110

New compass will say "ᴄᴀʟ N". Compass seems to calibrate itself after a short drive, verified with GPS.
