This was not how I wanted to start my Sunday... On our way to church in the 2018 TRD Off Road and was making a left when the car in front slams on her brakes because some yahoo ran a red light... I barely had time to swerve even a little. My door won’t open and the tire is rubbing the wheel well. Hoping the body shop can get her back to new condition. Most importantly there were no injuries. In my 48 years of life this was first ever accident and it just had to be in the new Tacoma!! Ugggggggg.....

Time for a Domello aluminum front bumper! Any damage to a new truck sucks tho.

You could probably pick up most of the parts with a WTB (want to buy) post on here. I imagine there are a handful of people with stock stuff cluttering up their house. Hell, I have a white hood leaning against the wall in my office eyeballing me, but I'm in TX.

    1.Glad you're ok.
    2. Not totaled. ( Before those posts start )
    3. Take it to a proper bodyshop for an estimate.
    4. Don't use the cheapest shop or your friend with an awesome set of tools.
    5. Finally, bumper upgrade.

Front quarter panel, bumper both need replacing. Probably the light assembly on that side. Your door doesn't open because it looks like the 1/4 panel warped inside the gap, so the front edge of your door is rubbing it when you open. You may have lucked out honestly, doesn't look like the hood is warped or the door, and it looks like nothing frame wise went on. Body shop will want to measure to make sure of course.

Complete WAG in the $2-$3K range. It's mostly empty space up there but lots of fasteners and little bracket pieces, fair amount of labor. And of course two new body parts, one of which is metal, with matching paint and treatment.

Good luck but any hit that ends up just being fiscal damage is a good result, something to keep in mind.

Looks like about 5-6k in damages...given the accident happened less than 24 months from the date of purchase the insurer is required by statue to use all factory Toyota parts if you have comprehensive collision...whatever shop you use get them to eat the deductible or take it elsewhere...in the end it should be good as new.

My TRD Off-road still has 30 day tags, I really think I’d be sick. Glad it wasn’t worse.

Just heard from the body shop and total damage is $4,606. They say it will be good as new and done by the 28th.

HOW NEW???? Because you have additional money coming to you BEYOND the repairs IF you are found not at fault. It's called "diminished value" MOST Insurance Agents will pretend they have never heard of such a thing...Trust me, they have an entire department devoted to it. Years ago my two week old car was rear ended to a tune of $5K in repairs. This of course lowered the resale value down the road, I had to fight for it speaking directly with the other persons Insurance company, in the end I received a check with that diminished value calculated for the damage done.

Depends what state you are in. This is not common at all in CA, you would usually need to take it to small claims for diminished value.

I California Red doesn't mean Stop To many close calls with red light runners. It it turns yellow and your with in 1/4 mile go for it. I have almost had two head on's will making a legal U turn and an idiot run the red making a right turn. Glad no one was hurt and it is repairable.

I'm in MA and without further research that may be true, though it may not be. I would fight for it, to calculate a realistic value is the tricky part, you can just accept the offer they make and count yourself lucky.
