The 12th works better for me as well.
Any issues with asking my neighbor to go?
He has a CJ with fresh paint that is dying to get abused! :D

I'm good with the 12th for now... I usually do church that day - but maybe I can go on Saturday with my lady... She may want to come too... although - in order for me to be my normal guy self - I may tell her that it's not a good idea... and that she'd get muddy and such.

I'd also need to do a breather extension on my sport...

Went on MD DNR website tonight and found out you do need to get a ORV registration sticker to use any MD ORV trail.
    http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/orv.html

Could not find out how much the sticker was, maybe someone else will have better luck.

Okay so right now I have down for the 12th...

    Silver07taco - Kyle
    Neubs - Dave
    Sideways -
    USMC - Don

Sideways I have gotten real names and cell numbers from Silver, Neubs, and USMC. I figured I wouldn't post the numbers publicly but PM everybody when I have everything.

If you would PM me names and numbers I'll send everyones out before I leave for Mexico on the 4th.

This might be a stupid question. Do I get internet service over there like in the hotel?

Here is a map of Green Ridge:

    http://www.dnr.state.md.us/outdooradventures/greenridge_ORVmap.pdf

Sideways, good call on the Permit, I thought those were just for ATVs. Woops.

"The Maryland Department of Natural Resources provides trails for off-road vehicles, or ORV's, in Garrett, Potomac, Green Ridge, Savage River and Pocomoke State Forests. An ORV is defined as a motorized vehicle designed for or capable of cross-country travel on land, water, snow, ice, marsh, swampland or other natural terrain. Off-road vehicles include a four-wheel drive or low pressure tire vehicle; an automobile; a truck; a motorcycle and related two-wheel vehicles; an amphibious machine; a ground effect or air cushion vehicle; a snowmobile; and a golf cart.
Off-road vehicles must be registered annually with DNR and display a registration sticker. Registration stickers are available from any DNR regional service center, and stickers and trail maps are available at the five state forests where ORV use is permitted.

It is recommended that you call the State Forest and Park Office you will be visiting before using the trails to be advised of current trail closures or hazards."

    Couple of things this morning:

    1. My buddy (guy I served in Iraq with) is interested in coming - but his off-road vehicle is not "street-legal" and wanted to bring it on a trailer... Does the ORV at the state parks have to be registered with the state (i.e. have plates on it)?

    2. My vehicle is registered in VA... I just recently moved to Waldorf, MD from Northern, VA. Does the ORV have to be registered with MD plates - or does that matter?

    3. I got a kitchen pass from the lady. This means that providing that I get my rear up at 5-6am to make it to Costco by 9am that day... I am in.

    4. I still need to do a breather extension. I need to get moving on that this weekend so I am ready. Anyone have any good links or write-ups on that?

    5. Who has called the DNR? I tried calling this morning - and will try again in a bit. We SHOULD PM that number around as well so we can call a few days before to make sure the trail is open that day.

    6. I have a tow strap... that's about it. What else do you guys think I will need? I have just begun to do my mods... headlights first - just did the 3" lift. I'd imagine I'll need something else... anyone want to come up with a general "good to have" list for mild off-roading? And FYI - I have been to a professional off-road driving course in TX before I went to Iraq... just cannot recall all the names of the crap we used.

    Thats all folks... LOL

    Just called Green Ridge...

All of the "street LEGAL" trucks DO NOT NEED ORV passes.

USMC - If your friend comes he will need to get a pass which he can purchase at Green Ridge.

The office will be open on the 12th so he can purchase one that day.

USMC - It doesn't matter what state as long as the truck is street legal with tags.

Also what is a breather extension? Do I need to do that before I go up? Also what else do I need to do before I come.

Someone with experience (not me) please make up a list of stuff to bring.

man you guys suck lol... I am getting the keys to my new house on the 10th of oct... so cant play around for awhile till I get it all set up... here is a small list of stuff to take along for a trip

    1. tow strap or chain
    2. atleast a gallon jug of water (for you or truck)
    3. shop towels/rags etc and a drain pan incase of leak
    4. TP I hope I dont need to tell you what to use it for
    5. atleast one shovel between all of you
    6. a decent assortment of sockets/wrenches etc
    7. a few of the ratchet straps (held an axle in before)
    8. duct tape...out of 1001 uses you'll find one it works for

I also do one other thing...if your truck has a hitch take and slide a reciever in that either has a shackle attached or atleast no ball on it that way you have a good solid recovery point in center of rear

Thanks for the list... I'll bring the listed items - but I might need to look into a shackle for the hitch on my truck.

Let's add gloves to that list as well... :)

My neighbor Jarred (who is an ex marine) is a go for the 12th.
He has a buddy with a Wrangler that might come along as well.
Jarred is an experienced off roader, his Jeep is equipped with a winch as well.
He also has a number of tow straps and other items we might need.

I am trying to talk my wife into bringing her 4 wheeler, so she can ride that, she does not like off roading in a vehicle.
