Thanks man! I could definitely tell it was back there while towing but this truck continues to impress me. They really are a jack of all trades.

 

I see you are running 4.88's.................The 13 is at 75 in a headwind up a slight grade...............this is the usual everyday. High Desert of California is always windy.

I am lifted with 265 75 16, Alucab canopy, roof rack, awning, drawer system, etc.

 

Dang. That sucks big time. I would definitely be getting another Daily Driver. I have a 4” Lift with 295/70R17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers and the lowest I have gotten is the 16.4 going up to Mt Shasta etc going 80-90 mph and not letting off the gas. Coming back from SoCal I was right at around 16.9 doing the same thing. Have you looked into some mods to help with better mpg? I don’t know. That just doesn’t seem right with me. Do you run 87 octane or 91+ octane?

 

I run 87........These numbers are my commute to and from work everyday. 9 miles of the 23 is stop and go traffic. On trips I get substantially better.

 

I drive in terrible city traffic conditions (nonstop stop n' go, tons of turns and streetlights and uphill/downhill)...probably some of the worst MPG conditions possible and I average about 16mpg if I ONLY commute (highway driving obviously inflates the number). When I drive freeway its EASILY 20-21+mpg. I don't idle in my vehicle either...idling burns an unbelievable amount of gas and kills your tank MPG.

 

Just have to ask: in the barn pic, is that a AC unit up in the hay loft?.. maybe someone has living quarters up there. The hay lofts I remember placing those type of bales into were hot as hell!!

 

You probably had 4,000+ lbs on there. Those bales look about 75 lbs each

Do you have trailer brakes?

 

Yes, the whole assembly should come out to do the swap. 2 bolts and 2 plastic rivet things, freakishly easy.

 

I'm stock everything. Stock tires, no lift. I'm topping out at 18mpg. And I'm not even heavy on the pedal.

 

I can’t get mine to get under 20. When it was new I only got around 19 but the more miles I get (at 11k now) the better the mileage is. I average close to 21 on regular and 22-23 on premium.

 

Gotcha. That’s good. I’d try 91+ Octane. I, as well as, others have noticed even a slight difference in mpg with just using the higher Octane. When I first made the switch two years ago, I thought it was just me. However, within the last two years, others have made the same findings. Just an idea.

 

My truck runs much smoother off 91 plus octane. I know they say these trucks don’t require it, but someone forgot to tell mine that.

 

I wonder what the chrome recovery hooks are bolted too.

 

How did the install go? Any tips? Mine is currently in powder coat, should be here soon!

 

So question...with the SSO, can you get one that just has the winch cutout and then everything else is like the OEM. Meaning, it doesn’t have recovery hooks or lightbar cutout? I ask because I really would like to get a winch at some point but I don’t want to lose my front bumper guard from AVID. With the AVID front bumper, the bottom portion is open which seems like the SSO location is in that lower portion. The only thing I would be interested to see is if I would be able to install both around the same location. I believe I would be able to but just curious for those that have the SSO. I’d love to not get anything and just purchase a hidden winch mount, but I haven’t found one yet that has it in the lower portion like the SSO. If anyone knows of one, please let me know. SDHQ has one but it’s not in the lower portion, it’s straight out and that will not work for my setup I do not believe.

 

I saw a car a few weeks back that "Elvis Preslied" with plates that referenced him as well. You can just imagine how gaudy that was.

 

Katie, I would imagine SSO would work with you to make a Slimline bumper the way you want.
