    Welp... happened to me.

2017 TRD Sport 4x4, only 19,8xx miles... Just came back last weekend from the dealership for my 20k mile service/oil change....

Guess they don't "check" the battery when they do their multi-point check...

Anyways, went out this morning to head to work. Won't start. Waiting on Roadside assistance to show up. What a way to start the week.

    Don

Did you get it replaced easily by dealership? I'm considering getting an Optima because you're experience and mine mimic several others here on the board... These batteries should be lasting longer.

Does it matter if they check it? You apparently don’t read the paperwork to determine if they do it or not so you wouldn’t know the battery was failing anyways. LOL

That is pretty quick for a battery to go out.
Any corrosion on the battery terminals?
You sure you didn’t drain it by leaving something on.

Same thing has happened to me. Twice. Went back and got them to replace it both times. They have a 3 year warranty so my current batter which is a year old now still has 2 years left on it. If it dies after that Im replacing it with a deep cycle.

Sorry man... definitely not the best start to the week. Take the freebie from Toyota and set a reminder to replace it before it happens again. Too many of us have been burned and stranded by this one.

File it under "they don't make them like they used to" and move on

Or just replace it all together :D

My 2016 (built in late 2015) battery is fading after 50K miles. I thought that was bad, but I guess I’m lucky compared to some of you. The OEM Panasonic battery in my last new car, a Japanese-built Subaru, was still going strong after 9 years when I sold it. So I got spoiled.

Mine died last week, 2016 with 22K miles. Was slow to start out of nowhere, and I just got it replaced with a Les Schwab battery which has a 7 year warranty. Sad these don't even last 3 years.

mine died at 35k. called the dealer and they said the warranty goes to 36k on that so I could get another OE battery for free.

so i hung up and ordered an Odyssey for $250 out of pocket so this shit doesn't happen again... for a few years at least.

Mine died around 20k. 2016 with Jan build date. They have clearly done some ‘value engineering’ on the batteries. I’ll get an AGM after the dealer quits replacing them for free. I always take a jump pack when I go on long trips.

They usually do group buys on here for Northstar Batteries and it seems like everyone on here likes those.
