    Very informative you guys. Thanks!

The terrain I'm most concerned with is sand and snow and ice.

I would love to go with a 235/85, but they're all E-Range. The lightest ones I could find are over 50lbs. An aggressive 265/75/16 can be 40lbs.

With the 2.7, I think that weight could really impact mpg's and power.

33x10.50 BFG KO1. They're amazing. Any wider is totally unnecessary unless you're on sand dunes every weekend. Just extra weight and noise and rubbing. Even with the 10.50s I had to hammer the pinch weld. My only complaint is that I can't drive all the way to tahoe in 5th gear anymore like I could with 31s but that's barely a complaint. I do think it would look cool to have them sticking out a little further (wheel spacers) but I'm too cheap for purely cosmetic mods.

You see my pics above? Did pretty damn well in snow in my opinion. Those are 255/85/16 KM2. I liked them had no problem in all the snowy trails I went on!

Late thread revival... But I love my 255/75r17! To me, they feel more precise than wider tires

ok so i'm open to input here. i will be in the market for tires shortly. rt now i'm running 285's which seem to be a decent compromise in width. as stated most of these tires are e rated with a 4 cylinder how much will it be effected? especially between a 285 and the 255/85 the tires that are on it are p rated and i'm a little concerned using them off road they were on the wheels when i got them. to run the 255's ill have to get different wheels i'm just concerned how much effect these will have on the 4cyl

I run 235/85/16's, no lift. They're great - I don't know if they slow me down or not. If I want to put my foot into it, the truck will leave most everybody behind but I'm mostly a speed limit driver so I don't really care. Thing is I get great clearance, a smooth ride, and 20 mpg with no lift. I have most of a lift kit in my shop but I haven't felt a need to put it on yet. 185K with the original drive shaft carrier bearing and front end shafts as far as I know. Most of the guys with continual problems are the guys with lifts and I'm not sure I want to play in that (quicksand) sandbox having finally gotten out from under a Land Rover and a Land Cruiser.

You might not get a reply, the post you quoted was from 2016, I check the user and he’s pretty much inactive last post was April 2017.

But that wheel size is roughly 32.1 x 10, 2nd gen owners experience rubbing only at full lock.

pizza cutters are skinnier than stock. stock width is 265. so as previously posted in this thread, 235/85-16 would be pizza cutters. 255 just isn't that much skinnier either.

nope, 10.5 is stock width :)

    unless you've got a 95-98 with 225/75-15
