    Public schools failed her? Boiiii it gets a lot worse

    I'm tutoring a girl right now who's a freshman in college wanting to take her ACT to get into a bigger school. She never learned to multiply or work with fractions. She can hardly add or subtract. And she's not stupid - she's averaging a 27-28/36 on the reading and writing portions of the test.

    that is nuts. i have 3 kids now and will move the universe to put and keep them all in private schools. it's breaking my back but that's ok if this is the situation nowadays.

    Its honestly mindboggling. My brother is in 8th grade and i'm a 4th year math major and don't understand some of the stuff going on with his homework. I never thought i'd advocate for private schools; but our school district is honestly fucking kids over in math. It's really not the kid's fault. The amount of cases we get from highschool kids we get without a basic math foundation is way more than you'd expect

    The girl I was mentioning earlier had all A/Bs in high school. Including her math classes. And she doesn't know how to multiply?? Blows my mind...
