I’ve been occasionally lurking on this site since I began thinking about purchasing a Tacoma about a year ago. I’ve driven Fords all my life - currently still own a 2008 Ranger and a 1977 F250 - but have always wanted a Tacoma because of their reliability, performance and value.

I got my 2018 SR5 V6 4x4 new a couple weeks ago. I love it. It’s the nicest vehicle I’ve ever, and may ever, own. I might not ever purchase another vehicle again.
Still feeling it out on and off road, but all positive so far.

What I’ve done so far: tint front windows and install a custom made headache Rack - fabricated by a buddy to the Tacoma’s exact specifications. No drilling to install.

Next: pro comp or revtek 3” leveling kit and bigger tires. 265 or 285? I’ve followed some threads on the leveling kit/tire debate and am still unsure which kit and tire to use.

Looking forward to contributing and benefiting to these forums.

    Cheers!

    J

Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
I don't think you'll be disappointed. Keep maintenance in check and the truck should last you many years. Looks like you live in a non-salted roads area? My 12 year old truck has been a rock, other than the salt eating my frame (and a few small niggles, mostly taken care of by ToMoCo) Toyota just bought me a brandy new frame, so onward I go! I will daily-drive this truck for 25 years at my current rate.

Yeah, no salt roads here. I plan on being on top of the maintenance for this truck. Not that I’m not on top of things on my other truck, but I do a lot of the work myself on fords and the technology and wiring of the Tacoma, or any new truck for that matter, is a bit intimidating. So I’ll leave it up to trained mechanics to maintain my truck.

I’ve owned a 1968 Ford F100 (should have never sold it) and a Tacoma owner.

Being from Detroit I’d buy a Ford over any other American vehicle.

I grew up on a small farm and always had fords as primarily work trucks, even today.

Most guys who had Toyotas were primarily wheeling or hunting with their trucks but not using them for work.

I plan to use my new Tacoma as primarily a daily driver, seasonal hunting truck then as an occasional light wheeler/ work truck.

Below is a pic of my 77 which I love to death and who is probably feeling a bit neglected since I got my Toyota. Please let me know if it’s not cool posting pics of a non Toyota in this forum.
