I installed it less than a week ago so I don't have much to go off yet. It's definitely a tight fit. "Henrilepuf" mentioned he had to remove the existing cable to make room for the damper. If I notice too much rubbing on the cable I'll do that as well. Not a bid deal.

It definitely helps. The damper is installed on the left side only. I think the new Tacomas (2016+) have them on both sides standard.

The only thing I'd worry about is how much the damper is able to hold should the cable be removed. I do place weight on my tailgate sometimes and would hate for it to give way and then cause injury.
I'd be interested to see if there's a way to incorporate what's in the 3rd Gen's tailgate into ours.
Anyway, hope it works out for you.

Installed my Go Rhino steps today thanks to an Amazon delivery! Now my vertical challenged passengers won't complain... next is the overhead compass/temp and some seat covers. I'm sure I will come up with some other things to do...

    Works well.
I just avoid excessive weight on this side when loading the truck.

They look attractive, with 9 positions from very soft to very stiff....
BUT, I don't know if it'll work well with a lift already installed...

For the price, Couldn't hurt.. I would think they're better than stock. Not one for throwing money around. More of a want than a need.. Just thinking of upgrading before I get an alignment
