    Yes. I noted those in Post 68. They had them at my local store also. I wanted to make a line with two female fittings between the flares for simplicity.

    @rat107 posted a video that shows him using just one coupler to do the deed:

    It seems that either the 2nd Gens had a flex line up top and / or more slack to form the turn.

    The elbow (Toyota's name is 'way') was attractive for the simplicity. Also, needing two line wrenches and getting both in the tight spot. . .

    Feel free to go any route that you like, including just leaving the accumulator alone, or wait to see what @7r41lbr34k3r can come up with?

    M10 x 1.0 is the right thread. I believe that coupler is correct for double flare lines.

    edit - You're right, they don't have a female regular union (non-coupler) for double flare...weird

    No problem. Although, that looks like another coupler / union, not an end fitting for a section of line? I could be wrong since there are no other views of it. The description talks about joining two lines together.

    I posted the wrong fitting, it doesn't exist for whatever bizarre reason.

    Exactly! I tried searching around. M10x1.0 seemed to have a limited selection to start with. I'm also assuming that brake and clutch lines aren't commonly replaced on Japanese cars? :D

    Smoothing out clutch engagement may have been the intent when Toyota designed it, but I find that the accumulator delay makes smooth clutch engagement unpredictable. The added delay and lack of "feel" results in the clutch engaging with a thud often, unless the clutch is excessively ridden. I'm sure this is the opposite effect Toyota intended. I have never experienced this in my older manual Civic, or any previous manual. I can't wait to toss the POS accumulator.

    Whoa. That's nice!

    I've never messed with anything like these except for the pressure fittings on paintball guns. Ones like sharkbites. My bikes have / had only standard banjo fittings with braided lines from the factory.

    My questions would be:

    -- That fitting looks like it seals by wrenching it together once the line is inserted? If so, I like it.
    -- Do those fittings seal to the stock double flare? I think that is the big consideration.

    You'd only need about 70mm of line to make the connection. About 30mm bend radius.


    In general, I meant to check (forgot to) if the line fittings are straight threads or tapers like NPT?

    Ah! It was way down there. Are you going to give this a shot? If you do, it might be easier to go from the top line straight into the slave? Female on one end, male on the other with a support clamp or two.

    I'll check out the video later.

    Maybe. Have a spare piece of line just need the fittings. Not anytime soon, other pressing projects ATM. If I were to make one, would make it to just replace the accumulator. Easy to go back to stock if needed.
    Actually more driving time it has improved. Still not crazy about the inconsistency and slight thump that another poster mentioned.
    Also curious about the software update that some have stated improving shifts.
    Haven’t wanted to go play the dealership game just yet.

    Yes. The software update improves shifting. It combined with this puts me in the sweet spot. I am really content right now.

    We had nice weather on Monday and Tuesday, so I rode to work. With weather coming in later, today was the first commute with the accumulator gone. Wow! What. A. Difference.

    IMVHO with it gone, it felt like it was delaying engagement on every shift. I don't know if the accumulator actually contributes to wear, but given that, my mind would say yes. Without it, clutch engagement is direct, feels proper, and is much smoother for me. As smooth as my other MTs. Slushbox smooth.

    BTW, the accumulator went in the mail to Rick yesterday morning. It should arrive just before he heads out on his vacation.

    Slightly confused? That link points to your post in another thread about deleting the accumulator which you say yours doesn't have?

    That is interesting that the 2.7s don't have one. I test drove used 2nd Gens with both the 4.0 and 2.7. They both drove well and about the same. I don't know if the accumulator was still on that 4.0. The clutch feel was one of the very few differences that I noticed when test driving the 3rd Gens. I was amazed that 140,000mi+ 2nd Gens were feeling about as good as new 3rd Gens. I'm expecting the same out of mine.
