Our insurance didn’t cover any places Vernal and I refused to drive to the city to go, guess that kinda added up over the years....

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't been to the dentist in years....ever since I got kicked off my parents plan 6 years ago. My work doesn't offer dental unfortunately.

I do take really good care of my teeth though, don't have any aches or pains, etc. But I'm sure when I do eventually go they're going to tell me that I need dentures or something

I strayed away for probably 4 years, I thought I took care of them but I still ended up with a few cavities.

about half as hard as if your whole face were numb.

The best part is when it wears off and you realize you've been chewing on your cheek for the last half hour.

yeah I'm sure I'll have one or two, I have three fillings from when I was a kid and hated brushing like most little kids do. But as a teenager/adult I never got any. But after 6 years I wouldn't be surprised if I had one, I really should make an appointment before it turns into a root canal or something even more expensive.

Although I just dropped $250 at the veterinarian last weekend so that they could run a few tests and confirm that my cat is indeed a fat cat.

Probably worth it, they can take care of that shit with lasers or something now so I can’t imagine that’s too painful.

eh I adopted him 6 years ago and haven't ever taken him to the vet for a check-up...he's an indoor cat and besides being chunky he's always been healthy, never been sick or anything. But I figured I should be a good parent and take him in since he's getting older. They ran some tests and came back and were like...yup, he's healthy as a clam but fat as manatee. Gee thanks, I could've saved the $250 for that info

true, although my parent's cat is jet black and other than his eyes you can't even tell what end of him is what. Just a walking bowling ball haha

Yeah, I did the same. When in college we had medical "insurance" but no dental coverage.

When I finally went in I pretty much had a mouth full of cavities. I'll admit I'm not the best at flossing, lol...

The dentist also asked me about my "missing" tooth.

I had a molar removed about 13 years ago because I got hit in the face with a softball and severed the tooth at the gum line, dislocated my jaw, all that fun stuff. HMO just took the tooth out. Many years later the tooth above it was falling down. Had to get invisilign first to correct the upper tooth, then they did a titanium implant and a fake tooth. To be honest, the process of getting the implant wasn't any worse than getting a cavity filled.

My doc thought I had a stroke at 15. Ive never seen my mom more distressed in my life. Turns out, there was nothing they could do. Just ride it out and drink from straws.

yeah he ended up topping the scale at 17lbs lol. I thought he was going to be 15 at most. He's a big cat naturally but he could stand to loose 3 lbs or so.

They wanted to run blood work on him just to make sure his weight wasn't causing issues with his kidneys or liver or anything like that, so I agreed to it. Worth the peace of mind I guess
