so ever since i upgraded to the pro comp oil shocks going over speed bumps was heaven
but going over like construction roads or bumpy roads it rides like shit as if the shocks were blown
any ideas on what to do
should i buy new shocks and trash the oil ones i have since i feel like i lost money anyway
i keep thinking of a brand that would fit a 5 lugger but i dont think there are any and if i get nitro filled then wouldnt it lift me a lot and then look weird or drive weird
any ideas would be super helpful thanks a lot

    Just to confirm, you're a 5-lug, yes?

And switching to nitrogen charged shocks shouldnt really lift the truck any, just so ya know.

    None, yet.
I have procomps and the Ready Lift on my 09 base reg cab. And I must say it rides like ass. If I had known that making these changes would ruin my ride, I might not have done it. I think mine rides badly because of the rear aal, not the procomps.

    hell yeah man
    i hate this
    i want a nice ride
i already know i fucked up with having 32 tires when i shoulda got 31 but my suspension should be better
    the rears suck so much
i know the aal makes it ride rough over speed bumps but theres gotta be a shock to fix all this and it sucks even more how our leaf springs are under the axle and not over =[
someone with shock experience please help i think nitro socks would be a lot better then the dumb oil ones
whats the point since it doesnt pop back up

A truck doesnt really ride "nice" speed bumps or rough roads. Dude its a truck. If your shocks were blown you would bounce all over the place because a shock is designed to to is to dampen your spring compression and extension to a manageable level, Example, you go over a speed bump, and it should bounce maybe 1 time after going over it. Without shocks it will bounce many times. Also over rough roads a truck without good shocks will be all over the road and bounce like nobodys business, Shocks can help a lot with that, but also with a AAL or even TSB springs, its going to ride more rough because of stiffer springs. So you have a mix between carrying weight (stiffer springs) and ride quality (softer springs that absorb every bump). A truck will lean more to the carrying weight and less to ride quality. Also the lower profile tires will also contribute to your ride quality, lower profile, (shorter the distance of rubber between the rim and the ground) the harsher the ride, Taller the tire, the more rubber between the rim and the ground the better the ride, but less responsive the handling. So its a delicate mix between the two, but unfortunately for you the Tacoma rides more towards the stiffer springs and carrying capability. Might check your air pressures, more psi the harder the tires will be, I wouldn't run anymore than 32-35 if you are worried about ride quality and dont haul much for weight. When I am towing or hauling a lot of weight, I typically run 40-45psi. Just my .02. Hope it might help shed some light on what you are experiencing.

i got the same problem and i have a 2002 double cab with icon shocks in the front which are supposse to be one of the bests in the markets, and the ride is still not smooth, could it be that i have a I4? my cousins has a v6 with the same shocks and his ride is way better

problem is the model u have. not the shocks. the reason the lifted ones u drive ride better is cause u have a basemodel 2wd. your not gonna have as good a ride as a prerunner or a 4x4. but u also didnt pay as much for the truck either. thats the way it works brotha..

i know the 4 banger sucks. but i found a fix for the shocks.
put tacoma prerunner bilsteins on and it works great. i got them from a previous lifted truck and they left it behind.
and now the length of the prerunner shock in the rear helped with the problem. so basically get a longer gas shock.
