So I was one of the guys with an awning mounted to my OEM roof rack, utilizing Yakima 39h bar mounts and ARB awning brackets. First was the 55” CVT with no issues, and now, for a longer trip, I moved the 2500x2500 ARB with awning room to the DCSB only to find an odd failure. I assumed if I hit something with the awning the Yakima 39h plastic bar mounts would be the failure point. I was wrong. After catching a tree branch under the awning, and the resulting upward pull, the end of the load bar itself failed, separating the bolted (torx) end from the bar in a snap. Yakima 1, Toyota 0.

So, looking for some assistance from anyone out there that might have a parts guy that won’t insist that there is no ability to only order the complete rack. The ends are replaceable. There is a screw and a tab. Part numbers are in the schematic but I can’t get a quote out of my dealer.

One more of the end still bolted to the truck.

huh... thought there would at least be some good-natured ribbing as to the use of an 8' awning on an OEM rack.
Here is another closer photo of the Yakima 39h Mighty Mounts on OEM bars.

I just got my 2012 TRD off road - it has a roof rack, but no cross bars. will these part numbers work for mine as well?

I expect it is the same rack, and as such, believe that the crossbars that I received should work for you. YMMV... yada yada yada.

Try posting an ad in the classifieds...I see a lot TACOS around here without the cross bars. I’m sure someone has a set collecting dust.

Just wondering, why would someone have roof rack and remove crossbars?

Yeah I figured it’s a bad idea to drive around with an awning sticking out of your truck. Thanks for settling that debate.

    You got tape, right?

Since you just got it, maybe you don't know that the cross bars are part of the rails and need to be unlocked and lifted across. Its all one integral unit, which by the way is why I like them

I'm looking into mounting the ARB 2000x2500 to the OEM rack in a similar manner. Any issues driving highway speeds with the larger awning mounted this way?

None... and I bought a new set of crossbars and am making another trip soon using the same arrangement. There is some increased wind noise as the awning extends beyond the windshield. If I didn't have the 8' (2500x2500) already for our UZJ100, I'd likely opt for the 6' version instead for a double cab.
