Ohio state is always good...until they play some actual competition.

Everyone keeps saying how strong the B1G is. I just don’t see it. Very rarely over the last few years have they looked good against a top tier team from another conference. Ohio state is no different.

It's hard to judge other power 5 conferences seriously when you root for an sec school. In reality only 1 maybe 2 schools from each conference could withstand our schedules.

Penn State at Beaver Stadium in a white out and OSU may not have Nick Bosa. Could get interesting.

As far as the B1G, it’s tough to say. The last few years they’ve had a lot of solid teams at the top. After last weekend....yikes.

I'd enjoy that. Bama has come out of the valley with a win more times than not, and only lost there a handful of times in my lifetime.

Unless CBS changes their pattern of the last few years, the La State/UGA game will be an afternoon game this year. CBS only gets to pick one night game each year, and it's been the Alabama game for years.

They lost by 31 points to Iowa last year, so you just never know.

Entirely too much to think about year to year with this plan. Besides, this would dramatically reduce the SEC's chances to make the playoffs because they would just beat up on each other in the regular season.

I read this SBNation suggestion for SEC schedules a few years ago and it was (and remains) the perfect solution. It's worth a read:

So first, it's not much to think about since I did it in about 10 minutes and others get played to sit around and do that junk, and second...the sec claims it already does that but some teams get cushier schedules so they always make it to the top. Cant dispute if Alabama had been required to play Georgia or maybe Florida over the last 10 years instead of Tennessee each year at least 1 or 2 years they would've had another loss or so and not won the west. I mean heck A&M still hasnt played Kentucky under the screwed up system.

Alright, but did you read the SBNation system? It's perfect. Each team plays three teams annually, and rotates everybody else, then the best two play. Each player will have a chance to play every other team in the SEC more than once, and will visit every SEC stadium if they play 4 years.

I wouldn't say its perfect because 3 permanents are going to bring arguments of "but our 3 are powerhouses and your 2 are cupcakes this year" whereas the 1 permanent is the so called "rivals" and not many dispute those games. There is no perfect scheduling system simply because teams vary so much year to year. Like in today's era you give one west team an almost full east schedule it will be disputed that that's too easy compared to a west slate.

I was actually referring to last years National Championship game. And in all honesty, who has played anyone 3 games into the season at the top worth mentioning?

Auburn has a loss so they are out, and LSU has played AU and are ranked 6 which is outside playoffs so they are out.

I'm speaking more to the standard top 4 that has been talked about...ie Bama, UGA, OSU, Clemson

How does them being currently outside the playoffs mean they are out? Top doesnt mean just top 4 because that will change at some point. Top is larger than that.

So you're trying to justify a weak schedule by looking out to other conferences and trying to be like them?

Also Clemson played A&M, who at this point is considered pretty formidable. OSU has at least played TCU.

You are telling me you wouldn't have kept Mullen if you had the choice? You're crazy. He's the best thing to ever happen at Miss St, MSU had their four years of greatness.

I would say that's kinda the point in no necessarily wanting him around, right? he gave his 4 years, pretty much achieved all he was ever going to there, now they need someone who can push it further.
