I've been pretty happy with the Auxbeam LED bulbs. Good spread, cutoff works great in the factory housings, seem to be decent quality. I worry about the life of the little cooling fans on each bulb, but no problems thus far.

Here’s a few pics I snapped tonight. I’m not sure if you can tell where the cut off line is in the picture

I have the retrofit source 55 watt HID kit. They are very very bright and no issues in almost 3 years now on the bulbs is ballast. They are a huuuuuuuuuuuge improvement over the oem bulbs.

I have the TRS Morimoto HID (5500K 35W) in my low beams and the XB LED fog lamps. Very happy with both and think they match with the OEM LED DRL pretty good.

I ran the Morimoto 2 strike LEDs for awhile and they were a big improvement. I’ve since converted to a Morimoto HID setup and it’s much better than the LEDs. The light throws much further. LEDs are great to light up what’s in front of you but they lack in distance.

    HID without a doubt.

A lot of people run Xenon Depot lights which are on the spendy side and require more wiring.
I have a Kensun HID Kit in mine and they’ve been working fine for over a year now and ran me $60. I’ve read some threads on here on how some people have blown out their DRL’s on their trucks from Xenon Depot or they’ll have lighting issues and that sounds like too much headache and costly if you have to replace a headlight from the DRL’s being blown out.
The Kensun was straight plug and play, took me 5 minutes and it’s a day and night difference from stock. My .02.

Our HID Kits are designed to be plug n play. The Xtreme HID kit does come with a relay harness as an extra feature but it's completely optional for the install in the 3rd gen Tacoma. As for the issue with the LED DRL, we had a small batch of Philips rebased HID bulbs that had an issue with the base but that has since been resolved.

HID if you want to see the road. LED if you want to see nothing, and make sure no one else can see anything either.

I would have to disagree with this. Sure an HID Kit is going to be brighter but with a properly designed LED kit it will still provide more light output and optically correct beam pattern than a standard halogen bulb.

Here's a full review of the Xtreme LED Kit installed in a 2017 Tacoma:

You've got that backwards. The average LED bulb puts out more light ("brightness") than the average HID bulb. The difference is that the HID bulb's output will throw the light further and with better spread, whereas the LED, especially in our shitty halogen projectors, will throw half the light output to the sky, rendering the overall output useless and blinding the crap out of everyone.

I just flipped through that review. Quite honestly man, you have no idea of what you're talking about.

"I also want to point out that there are two boxes of light above the cut-off. If you look at the OEM halogen bulbs you will see they also have these "boxes". It was pointed out that these are to help illuminate overhead roadway signs but not cast glare into oncoming traffic. Plain and simple, the Hikari's do not have this feature."

    LOL.

Those "boxes" are called squirrel spotters. And they are not part of a lightbulb or lighting kit, (as you imply with your "Hikari's do not have this feature") but are part of the light housing.

I'd strongly suggest for folks to do their own research (there are plenty of great forums on auto lighting) before believing anything a salesperson tells them.
