I will be having this done on the 12th. I tried to get the parts ordered before I arrived but the stealership must evaluate each customers claim... :drevil:

If they ordered the part before I arrived it would save them the cost of renting me a vehicle and my time. Oh well.

I'll try to get a picture of the part before they put it in.

If you can't get the photo up front, it only takes one minute to remove the plastic cover under the dash and photo it installed.

I would suggest perhaps calling Toyota Corporate (experience center) and see if they know... Or maybe a dealer could look it up for you?

Hopefully what they've done is put in a much stiffer rubber donut, and not just increased the clearances between the parts that clunk together.

Had mine replaced this morning. Its an improvement for sure, though not completely fixed (90% fixed). I haven't had a chance to crawl under and look at the new shaft yet. I'll crawl under after work and take some pictures.

I was the first one at my dealer to have this done. They had no clue what to look for. I had to show them where the problem was and tell them to test drive my truck in a specific area to duplicate the problem. In the end I told them it was a safety concern to me and that I wanted it replaced.

Glad you had yours done and glad you have positive feedback for us all. I expect the same. Mine will be done tomorrow. If you want to take pictures, you can remove the shroud that covers the intermediate steering shaft that is near the foot pedals in the cab. It's just four plastic nuts, that can usually be turned by hand. If you remove them, the shroud will come off and you can take a picture.

See this thread for an illustration: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/88077-steering-column-fix.html
