So, I've never had this issue before, but when I installed my vtx 16" wheels, i noticed how damn close the caliper sat to the rim. Never had any issues. I replaced my hub bearings and after reinstalling everything, now the caliper is grinding away at the wheel on turns. The caliper is as tight to the hub as factory bolts allow. Even so, it bolts to the spindle, and that hasn't changed.. does anyone have any insight as to why this has happened or what I can do to fix it? Yes, the hub is installed properly, and yes I used a dead blow hammer on the caliper to get it mounted as close as physically possible to the rotor.. what am I missing?!20180905_082334.jpg 20180905_082402.jpg 20180905_082334.jpg 20180905_082402.jpg

you could grind down the caliper but really the wheels don't quite fit because they've got the wrong contour or they made the inner hump too thick.

I have 16s and have no issues, I wouldn't grind down the calipers honestly since if you grind too much you could blow the caliper when you try to brake

yeah neither would I. The answer is simply that these wheels don't fit.

It's so strange. These wheels fit fine until I did the hubs. Never once scraped beforehand which leads me to believe I'm missing something here..

I mean everything is pretty self explanatory. Shouldnt be. I'm taking it up with VTX. Maybe they can help me out. The wheels are ovalled aw well because it grinds in cycles. I hope they can help me here. I'm at a total loss.

I would just take a grinder to the caliper. you wont need to grind much to get it to clear.
or you could try loosening up the top caliper bolt and pushing the caliper away from the hub.
top bolt away from hub, lower bolt close to hub. worth a shot

VTX told me that the 16" dont fit a third gen tacoma. The calipers are slightly bigger. He said the black terras they were able to fix it to clear but the bronze was a no go. He was pretty rude about it honestly, and said to keep grinding my caliper down. I already took 1-2 mm off and I wasnt about to go any further. They pissed me off so much with our conversation that I said screw it, and bought 17" Icon rebounds. I didnt have an issue for a while but one day it started scraping and got worse from there. Idk what happened. I know it was cunthair close before it rubbed but never did until recently.

Seems weird that a 16" wheel wouldn't fit since these things come stock with 16s... with that being said, my 16" Enkeis fit without any issues.

I had the same thought. Every 16 is going to be milled differently though. I wish I wasnt mislead that these wheels would fit a 3rd gen.

If you still have your stock 16s, I'd be curious to see if those still clear after doing the hubs.

Looks like you could put a .25" spacer on and the problem would be solved.

Longer studs and the spacer would be cheaper than new rims.
