I’m running lip mount nmo for both grms and for 2m/440. Antennas are factory tuned. I don’t remember the brands off top of my head. They are tied to a Midland 40 watt and a Yaesu 400xdr.

Haven't been able to find much info, what's y'alls preference on "rivnuts" vs "plusnuts" for installing the L track on the exterior and interior of the Habitat? Are there any pros/cons to each? Is there another option that I'm not aware of? Figured I'd get some advice before I drop money on one of the systems... I'm also worried about galvanic reaction and leaking.

I had read about that issue in some other applications, but several people said they were able to overcome the problem by initiating the compression "early", and feeding the nut in as they continued compression, until flush. It's just hard to make a judgement only being able to read things online without being able to actually see things in front of me, lol. And although I consider myself quite handy, I've never used Plusnuts or Rivnuts before.

I was thinking of that... you should try it!

So I don’t have to be first!

I’d recommend getting the proper install tool. I bought an Astro Pneumatic pop rivet tool and it made me a believer!

I knew it looked familiar. Went there in 99 for some high speed shenanigans in my bad ass Dodge Neon.

Haha, yeah I was just out there for some motorcycle photography. Always scared to go too fast out there, my dad tells this story about one of his friends who just got a pilots license, this was probably in the early to mid 70s. I guess they were flying around out there and decided to try and land. They ended up hitting a pot hole and digging the propeller into the playa. Sounds like a few beers were involved as well so who knows what really happened. There was a bunch of guys on side by sides winding them out all weekend.

Let me dig a picture up for you.

EDIT: here ya go, Wheel fell off on elk hunt, in the middle of nowhere. Believe it or not this is the third time one of my wheels has fallen off. Turns out Discount Tire had sold me wheels that required Extended thread lug nuts. I bought a set of new lug nuts when I bought the wheels but they gave me standard lug nuts...

    Wheel studs bust off?

Yep, actually I think what has been happening is the lug nuts themselves back out after being torqued to proper spec, because there was not enough threads engaged, and that causes play in the wheel and shears the studs.

Ouch, well luckily that's all that happened and you are still in one piece.

Exactly, we have been extremely lucky each time it has happened. The front wheel fell off once right after getting off of a two lane highway which could have been real bad.
