Probobly a naive question but for people who are recieving refunds from PayPal or there CC companys etc. Is this money that is eatin by PayPal and cc companies? And is like a insurance kind of a thing? Or is this money they take from pelfreybilt and refund back to the consumer? I am wondering this because pelfreybilt is making comments on there insta that "how could they be thieves if people are recieving refunds from PayPal etc"
To me just because PayPal is paying people back makes pelfreybilt no less of thieves because they still took and I guess spent people's money knowing they where never going to fulfill there order and file bankruptcy! And they some how justify to themselves that it's not be shady thieves because PayPal will give you a refund? Again forsure I do not know how all this stuff works so that's why I am asking??

Depends. Some of these they can access the funds immediately and pull out of whatever system they are in (PayPal). Some might have been tied up processing, but in situations like this the CC company eats it if it falls within their timeframe for dispute. Just the cost of doing business.

This is why CC companies charge a swipe fee to the merchants, which the merchants pass along to customers when they buy products.

Edit: I way oversimplified this process. Hopefully you get the idea. The CC companies and PayPal will most likely go after them for any unpaid funds.

You'd think the accounts would have to be frozen and the bankruptcy trustee would be responsible for distributing any assets to the numerous creditors. Perhaps PayPal has a way around that since I do believe the money goes into the sellers PayPal account so assuming there was anything left in there they could pull from that.

    Mods? Yes, oh yes..
ahh! yes. FYI: paid Citi cc via PayPal.

Hang in there folks! At least these are happening. I'm wondering if some of the issues are ACH via PayPal instead of CC... i dunno. mix in different times, banks, some rep having a bad day... it's a damn toss up and its a damn shame

I sorta feel bad for the trustee if they ever see this thread...tracking down who lost money and who was able to get a refund and a big mess prioritizing everything will take some time to go through.

They will just “follow the money”. If an individual gets reimbursed by their bank or CC company then they will assert claims on behalf of their company, but they will all most likely end up getting equal shares of nothing. As they say in most Chapter 7 cases, you can’t get blood from a turnip. This is indeed a mess any way you slice it.

I got a refund via AMEX (filed dispute Sept. 2nd) PENDING until Nov. 27th. That is the last day the "merchant" has to dispute the charge back and provide supporting Information on the charge.

This makes no sense since AMEX from what I understand is the "merchant".

Any of you CC savy people want to to chime in on this or anyone else get something similar from AMEX?
