Leveled the truck today... 1.5" spacer kit

After looking around I found an aluminum spacer kit that would correct the 1.5" difference I had between front and rear. Here are a few images of the process...

I painted the raw aluminum spacers black with engine paint (I don't like seeing the shiny metal spacer).

The front end is sitting a little higher right now but from what is in the paperwork this is normal prior to having it settle completely.

Overall this was a 3hr job with plenty of breaks in between

I'm thinking a top-plate spacer won't settle at all. All you did was make the shock/spring assembly longer. There's nothing to "break in" so to speak.

 

like KPT said, there is no settle. I had the Pro-Comp leveling kit on mine prior to the
5100's, no settling because there is nothing to settle, you are just making the ass'y longer. Makes the truck look better tho! I like it!!

 

ok would something like this be what you need to also correct taco-lean?

 

No, because it lifts the truck the same amount on each side.

To correct the taco lean you need adjustable coilovers or a single 1/4" top plate spacer.

Could you be more specific? What size tires do have or want to go to? Stock rims?

Lifting will reduce rubbing, but so will differently backspaced wheels or wheel spacers.

 

Hmmm, well then I feel I have been mislead on this kit! I was off by 1.5" from back to front and now after final assembly the back is at 22" from center to fender and the front is now 23"... Numbers prior were 20.5 and 22...

What gives?

Did the kit advertise 1.5" of lift, or is the spacer itself 1.5" thick?

Because of how the suspension is set up, if the spacer is 1.5" thick, you will get around 3" of lift.

Think of it like a level or a see saw. Increasing the height of the fulcrum in the center by some amount will lift the end of the see saw a lot more.

That looks more than 1.5" of lift. The spacer may be 1.5" thick but it kinda looks like 3" of lift

 

My leveling kit had the same 3" spacer in the front and a 1.5" spacer for the rear which made my truck set exactly even.
You can buy just the rear spacer from toytec but you have to get it with the longer u-bolts and also get the shim from them to cerrect the pinion angle so you don't inherit any drivetrain vibration.

Hmm I would measure it when you can to see how thick it is....For around 1.5" of lift, you would want the spacer to be ~0.75 inches thick (see my post above)

 

Well the spacer is much greater than .75"

Anyone wanna tell me what I need to do next since I just got a 2.5" lift kit? (what wheel adjustments need to be made now?????)

 

Alignment for sure. Tire and wheel size/selection is up to u. Most will tell u not to go larger than a 285 series tire or you'll be cuttin alot

 

Well I am going tire shopping this coming Friday and I have a great deal on the Firestone Destination A/T (x4 mounted, balanced) for just under $500 (265/70/16)...

But now I wonder if I should bump up that size a bit...

I just wanted the truck to sit level and now it appears I may need to raise the rear a notch :-(
