Working on the audio stuff until I get the new power steering pump.
I'm running all new wiring for the audio. 12g for all the speakers. I'll be running the speakers without the crossover and run the twitters live off the amp because everything is going to be controlled off the DSP. Well at least that's how car toys told me to set it up. They will be the ones to tune everything for me and make sure nothing gets over powered.

To get the new JL speakers to fit I had to fab up a new mounts. I ended up cutting some steel into a circle and drilled a bunch of holes. I went and got some longer screws because I didn't trust the stock ones to hold this heavy ass speaker. I tac welded some nuts behind the metal circle so I can just screw the speaker on and not worry about it coming loose. Every this seems solid and hopefully jump proof.

Got the tweeter mounted up. I reused the factory mount. I cut off the screw holders for the factory speaker. Welded on a small plate on the back side and drilled two holes for the tweeter mounts to bolt on. Fits pretty good. Kept it simple. I just need to cut the bolts flush to the nut.

Might as well give it a good scrubbing since it’s stripped down. Now the million dollar question. Should I go with the black vinyl I used for the headliner or use a dark grey to replace the old fabric on the door.
Edit: maybe just match the original color but vinyl.

No one had dark grey so I ended up calling PRP Seats and asked if they would sell me some vinyl that was used for the seats. They said yes. 2 yards of the grey that is in my seats is on it's way. Wish I would of knew about it sooner. I would of used it for the headliner.

Damn that's smart and nice of them to sell it to you. But yeah, would've been nice to know sooner and match the headliner. Probably don't feel like redoing that. But now you know it is an option if you change your mind down the line

The headliner is smashed between the cage and roof so I would have to cut the headliner all out. It does feel dark in the truck with the black headliner but for now I’ll run with it. Since I’m getting a new vinyl floor I think I’ll go with the grey instead of the black to lighten it up inside. I don’t know. I’m so undecided :p

Oh I know. I can tell by the different amount of responses I get from suspensions stuff to other nick nac things. So I’ll explain what I can. The cab is torn apart and I’m trying to get it put back together for good without having to tear it apart later down the road. Plus hrs been shit at work this year. Funds been cut a lot. So I had to make a choice on a smart way to spend what I did have coming in. The good thing is my wife is still on board and she’s cool with me adding audio stuff to the build and pushing the truck into next years funds. There are other things in the works too with family things that I have to choose over the truck just being a responsible father and husband. But as soon as I’m able I’ll get the trailing arms cut and welded once I get the new pump and the cab is complete. Well rear glass has to go back on before snow hits too. Just hang in there

I don't believe in those. And just giving you a hard time. I know aaalll about not having money as of recent. Doubled school time and more than halved my work hours so I can hopefully finish up in 2 more years. My last paycheck was $250. So $500 a month. That barely covers my bills before I put gas in the truck or whiskey on the table. Glad the gf loves me because she is the one keeping us afloat until I finish school

Ha you don’t know me to well. I have very thick skin. So you know I’m not offended at all. Trust me I’m not defending myself one bit even if it seems that way. I just don’t mind sharing the truth about the build. Things just get in the way sometimes. Not even sweating it, you’re good man. If I was following a build to see links I would want to see links too not speakers :p

I think I followed the build for the pvc cage idea since I'd like to try and squeeze funds to cage mine next spring. We'll see. Gf says the next thing I buy that's more than $500 better be shiney and come with a name change for her. Didn't think you were offended. You seem like a good dude that can roll with the punches as well as dish some out.

More stuff showed up. Vinyl for the doors and back of the cab. New Toyota power steering pump and foam for the cage. Going to be a busy weekend.

Ever burn out on collecting parts? Every once in a while I’ll look at the stuff I bought for my truck and sigh, “man I think I got too much stuff here to install.”
