What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Does anyone have a Double Cab with a 1995-1997 4x4 Front End?

This is something I never though I've wanted.

 

never seen it.

Why?

Because you'd have to swap front fends, hood, and the grill with the head lights. To make things work right with the head lights alone its best to swap the whole core support.

THEN

you have paint problems because none of the colors from 95-97 are the same as 01-04. So you'd have to repaint the front end to make it match the truck.

Thus.

Very expensive..for just looks. So not a popular thing to do.

Few on here have thought of it...myself included as I think the 95-97 is the best front end of all the gens.

 

I swear I've seen one on here before...

 

I know it's a pain to swap the front end to the 95-97 design, which is why I'm curious if anyone was crazy enough to do it on a Double Cab.

 

I've seen plenty on Standard and Extended Cabs. But never a Double Cab.

 

yeah. Big chunk of money for that. I've never seen it done as a majority of folks already like the 01-04 front end best anyways.

I'm one of those weird people who like the '98-'00 front end. Of course I'm biased because I have two 1998's.

I love how Toyota went from pathetically sized headlights in '97 to humongous excessively sized headlights in '98.

I don't like the older interior, however. I have 2004 door panels and center console in my truck. The 1995-2000 Limited interior is beautiful though.

Can you post a picture of the exterior and interior of your truck. Your attention to detail has always inspired me. Probably due to my own thoughts, Organizations and efficientce make life easy. While a clean truck is easier to maintain and wrench as well.

Question where are all your relays in your fuse box?

 

No one likes square cup holders.

Pieces i put together off ebay. Uses an older 4runner elbow at intake and a 22degree bent pipe from ebay. Another straight rubber connector from AutoZone.

I think I'd rather a shock bucket fail then a spindle though.

 

Only have need for 2 at the moment. I'll post a pic of the truck when i get home. It's basically stock with about 1.5 lift on the outside. Some electrical tricks here and there.

Everything has its place stock or not. What electrical tricks?

 

Hopefully it's not really bent like it looks.

Me personally I'd rather have a spindle fail than the shock buckets. Spindle I can unbolt & replace myself. Blow out a shock bucket & you need a frame jig to pull it back straight or cut the entire bucket off & weld on a new one.

Luckily I only cracked mine (both sides) & didn't bent them out of shape. Got it welded back up, had Total Chaos shock bucket gussets installed & welded on top plates for more strength. Just got this done 2 days ago.

 

Fuel, spark, power, and air. Maybe check your plugs? Or if your getting air from the intake.
