Who knows. Gonna try to fix it after work, and finish ripping out the sheet rock as well. It was super late last night when I found it was leaking, so couldn't really rip it all out. It's at least an entire sheet on the wall, and another on the ceiling.

Are you the original owner?

If the house was exposed to frozen pipes the pipes may have been stressed. If your getting that many leaks its more than a coincidence.

As a side note my sister in law had similar problems like yours ,and it turned out to be that her pipes were not grounded correctly ,and developed electrolytes ,and corrosion developed and leaked everywhere throughout the house.

As if I didn't have enough shit to deal with at home because of the leaks, I have more shit to deal with at work for crap I don't even have any control over.

My wife said her friend sent her a message asking if I had any interest in becoming a train driver for the MTA, because she knows people there and I guess they are hiring... Might have to consider that. Tired of the crap.

 

I think the leak in the pipe coming from the well is just bad luck sort of speak. Either that or self inflicted. We "messed" with that pipe when I first bought the house in 2010, because we moved some pipes and stuff around in there to make some room, and since then it's been leaking a bit on and off. The other leak I think is probably because of old piping, or what you said. Who knows. Just sucks that things usually happen in bunches. But whatever, it is what it is. Part of being a home owner and having to be prepared for things like this, and dealing with it.

Well, leaks are fixed... For now. Have to let a few days go by and see if they really are fixed.

For the pipe we cut it in two places because of the unions, put in new connectors, a new pc of pipe to connect the two, solder and done.

The other thing that was leaking... It's a pc that keeps water from going back to the well and vice versa. Forgot the actual name of the pc. But it was the pc itself that was leaking, not at the connection to each pipe. Guess over time the pc just got a crack in it since it's copper/metal, and looked old. Went to Lowe's and bought a new one. Popped it in and seems to be ok now. My dad is going to come back with better wrenches to tighten the nuts a bit more. One doesn't seem to be all the way because of the tight space it's in, and awkward to get it done with what we had.

On Friday we're going to cut the sheet rock since not all of it is bad, and fix it up.

 

@Cativelense back in the early '90's we had an issue with pinhole leaks in copper pipes. They were referred to as "Orange Stripe" as the pipes had an orange stripe printed on them indicating their size/diameter IIRC. There was an issue with the run of pipes we were told. FWIW. Guess like this 'run' of concrete that is cracking as house foundations now. Sounds like you're at an end of it for now though. Making me glad for my open basement ceilings though - LOL.

The next "big" project is getting my garage ceiling spray foam insulated. Getting someone out this afternoon while the Mrs is off from school, to give me a quote on price.

 

You can rent the sprayer from home Depot if you want to do it yourself.

 

Yeah, my dad and I talked about that, but he said it's 1) messy, and 2) you have to know what you're doing. So we figured it'd be better to let someone who knows what they're doing take care of it.

I feel your pain with the home repair. We dealt with a frost heave where our driveway meets the brick walkway out in front of my house for years. Finally decided to get it taken care of. Guy was pretty reasonable for the amount of manual labor involved. Then there is the fungus growing on my roof shingles and the mildew on the white siding. Hired someone else to come and kill / wash that stuff off. Again, not overly expensive but still another expense that adds up. Wanted to hire someone to fix a few crumbling bricks on my chimney (no leaks yet but I'm sure it will leak eventually). I figured a few hundred cause bricks are cheap and would just have to pay mostly labor. Guy wanted over a grand cause of liability due to the height. Said he would have to put up 3-4 levels of scaffolding and that's where the cost was. Anyway, I said nope. Gotta draw the line somewhere.

We also had 2 big trees taken down in our backyard back in May because they were dying and lots of broken branches from winter storms. Now we had stone ground cover under the trees because grass would not grow. Now that the trees are gone, grass/weeds keep coming up through the stone. So I want to have the stone removed and plant grass. In addition to this, my sons outgrown his playscape and it's rotten so I got rid of that back in July. The ground under the playscape was sand so he had a giant sandbox which is now growing weeds too. So we want to fill that with top soil and plant grass there too. Got a quote from my lawn guy to remove stone, add top soil and seed - $4200. So that was a big NOPE as well. Going to rent a small bucket loader / backhoe from home depot and have some soil delivered and do it myself for about 1/4 the cost. It's the stone removal that's going to suck. I have a place to move it to but needs to be raked up into piles first.

So on top of all this, I decided to sell my sailboat of 9 years since my family never took to it and bought a used bowrider powerboat. Only the second time on the boat and on the way home, the trailer tire de-treads on rt 8. Got all jammed up in the fender and started smoking a lot. Pulled over and slowed down on the shoulder and exited about a half mile up. Found a parking lot and put the spare tire on. Tread must have slapped the road and bounced up and smashed the trailer tail light too since that somehow got shattered. Getting 3 new tires for the trailer today since I don't trust any of the tires now. Replaced the taillight yesterday. I knew this boat was going to be more expense to maintain but was not expecting to need trailer work so soon.

It never ends.

 

Yep... never ends... The "joys" of home ownership, and all other things. Such is life.

I got out of it 2 years ago after owning them for 40+ years.

My best friend got an older boat a few years ago, and that's exactly the same thing that happened; he kept having to drop money into it to repair little things here and there. And then he finally got rid of it.

 

One of my boats was a Grady White powered by a SBC.
Chevy parts are cheap...but not for marine use.
You can easily double the price for "marine applications" .
Example would be a starter motor. Ones in boats have to be spark proof due to gas fumes and explosions and more $$.
