It's the 4x4 light - he has a manual - it was either that or the speed sensor for the speedo

    Working on them
I have the same plug and wire hanging on my first Gen manual trans and traced it down (I have full Toyota factory Electrical diagrams) that tell you in general where each connector is located and where at each end to test with meter and my 4x4 light does work and and thats the wrong location for the speed sensor

It was verified not to be the speed sensor since his speedo worked - thought you had read that my bad

this looks like the plug for the A.D.D. (Automatic Differential Disconnect) switch on the front diff.

Green with black tracer and green with white tracer are the wire colors. When you put it in 4 X 4 vacuum pulls the ADD sleeve over and closes this switch and turns the 4 WD light on on the dash.

if this ISNT it tell us the wire colors and I can trace it, hopefully.

When I was removing my add the harness for it came off of the main one near the engine block - this one looks more like where the two connectors for the trans and t case are - on another note I moved some of the harness brackets around on the trans to make it easier to just zip tie stuff out of the way rather than those pesky stock harness holders.

I think it's either the 4wd or low range indicator light on the t case. See if the light for both comes on

Update.....shifted through 4H and 4L and all is well. The light in the dash lit up and worked like it should.

Lol does your 4x4 engage - maybe it could be your add - the easy way to tell us look at the front diff and see if there's a missing connector - afaik there's only 5 connectors on that wiring harness - 2 trans 2 exhaust sensors 1 add so if your exhaust and trans are there, it's quite possibly the add solenoid on the front diff

Is it possible that this may not be used for a manual only automatics? This plug can only reach a small distance all around the transmission. Appreciate all the help. You guys are awesome!

I would stop focusing on the wiring harness and instead look at the connectors on your transmission, front diff, and exhaust. Manual trucks would have come from the factory with a specific wiring harness. I have the same year and options as you and like I said there's only 5 connectors on the wiring harness in that area. Someone could have done an auto to manual conversion, but they would have needed a different ecu and parts of the wiring harness may have to be modified but it's anyone's guess at this until you narrow down the possibilities by checking to see if any parts need to be connected to the harness

Yep, the two O2 sensors are fine as well as the 4H and 4L indicator lights. Looks like it must be the ADD on the front diff. Just need to locate it.

Look by the vacuum lines on top of the diff. I'm surprised your connector made it all the way to the wrong end of the driveshaft - someone must have pulled it in the completely wrong direction lol.
