    I own a 2017 Tacoma Offroad....no tech package(if it matters)

I too live in a rural area, the deer are starting to move more already. I first considered light bars, baja design fogs, ect. Then I thought, why not just better lights where I already have them?

I have read about 100 conversion threads(some of them twice), searched 7 ways to Sunday. Thought, maybe a better halogen or xenon bulb or something 'simple'. I run down to the local Napa, awesome H11 premium blah blah blah.

I get home...THEY DON'T FIT. The connecting plug is slightly different. Same outside shape, different inside shape. Every single lighting thread I find is about H11 lights. So what am I missing here?

Napa says, and I confirmed with one off the shelf(boring regular replacement bulb)my Taco takes a 1265H9N bulb. Not an H11.

I would be ecstatic if someone hits me with a "duh moment", but I think not.

Lay it on me, what did I miss?

Tacoma low beams take the H11b bulb.

You can also take an H9 bulb, spend 30 seconds with a utility knife to trim a tab, and use that. It'll give you much more light output (H9 bulbs are also used in the high-beams) - way, way more than any "premium" H11b bulb. I ran that setup for a while before switching to a quality HID kit.

Also - I've got Baja Designs Squadron Sport (wide cornering, amber) lights in my fogs. These things are amazing, but stupidly bright. They will absolutely blind the crap out of any driver coming the other way. If you get the Pro version, (instead of the sport) they will probably set trees on fire as you pass by. These are fantastic on country backroads at night, but you'll need to flick them off if there's oncoming traffic.

I found a couple of videos, my truck has a different size connector. I'll figure something out.

There are separate low beam and high beam bulbs. Maybe you tried to put the new H11 bulb (low beam) into the H9 bulb (high beam)?

I checked both hi and lo on drivers side.

But in the videos it is clearly an H11 connector. I showed my wife and she agree's mine is different. I'll take a picture.

Welp, ding ding ding! I some how pulled the high beam out twice, and you sir are correct. That's what I get for trying to do it last night in the dark.

But at least I have an answer now.

    Thank you.

Go ahead with the remarks of publicly posting stupidity and all that, shit happens. ;-)
