Oh DS joints. The front DS on the cruiser is all wrong for an AWD vehicle imo, it is a major cause for vibes because it uses out of phase joints with no double cardan joint. When my joints go out I'm just gonna replace the shaft with one of these...

And you haven't even seen the tuna can on the bottom of it haha, I love the huge cleaner, the factory air filter is washable and reusable around 20 times before you need a new one too

 

Mine's never been to the salt belt and it has more engine bay rust haha

They don't build them like they used to. I love how the battery has its own sort of bulkhead.

You reminded me I need to empty my tuna can too haha, always forget that thing is down there. It catches all the junk separated by the vortex chamber in the air filter. The cruiser has a 4 stage filter assembly.

 

Jesus Christ. Cars don't do that kind of filtering anymore, don't they?

 

The u joint towards the axle is completely broken on this one.

 

Well yea. They’re meant to break down more than the over engineered land cruisers of old

It's designed to have a usable life of more than 900,000mi according to Toyota. SO the great filtration keeps the bores from needing much work during rebuilds. It has some really quirky things that make it last so long, another is the gear driven power steering pump that is drive from a gear on the crank behind the timing cover.

I was about to say, that LC air cleaner reminded me of a Nuclear/Chemical/Biological air scrubber found in Nuclear fallout shelters.
