What happens when you ditch the BSM? Do you get a permanent warning light on your dash?

nope, i ditched BSM and Sonar when I put my bumper on. Kept the harness plugged into the truck as the license plate lights are intertwined in the harness and just turned the buttons off in the cab. no lights or warnings in 6000 miles. All i did was put plastic baggies over the 6 unconnected plugs to protect them in case i ever wanted to go back to stock....

they make great stuff but personally that bumper is not worth it. It hangs lower than stock in the corners thus decreasing departure angles and does not blend with the lines of the truck

however C4s HC bumper is beautiful!

don't buy this powdercoated, you're going to end up touching up the paint on the corners if you ever leave asphalt

I'm not a 3rd gen guy so I don't have BSM but does the bumper going lower than the body lines have anything to do with the BSM?

it doesn't, but it doesn't look good either and defeats the purpose of an OFF ROAD bumper

There are a few threads on that bumper. Consensus seems to be that it's finicky. Works part of the time and is not 100% reliable. I'd rather just get a proper high-clearance bumper and forget BSM. It's a highly-sensitive system. Toyota tech told me even it gets a tiny bit out of alignment, it's $$$ to calibrate it. Not worth it.

Be sure to waterproof the BSM plugs on the harness once you pull the BSM sensors. One of the 12v lines in those plugs is tied to an ACC fuse that also powers the HVAC. It was a cold ride back home before I could diagnose why that fuse kept blowing last winter :p
