I didnt act or demonstrate superiority. I was talking down to his self doubt and overall whiny tone.

The point was to say there are "successful" people who dont have a degree. I look up to people who make nothing but have all the time to do the things they love. I cant be away from a phone. Thats not success, 120 whatever doesnt paint a picture.

How am I arrogant again? I dont know anything about oil field. I cant paint the same picture of college that you all squabble about on here. But I do know what hard work looks like. Thats not Arrogance.

When I was young and dumb, I bought a $500 Toyota truck off a tweaker on Craigslist without a title or pink slip because "he misplaced it".

He spent an hour looking for it when I was at his house, the place was a total mess out in the middle of nowhere.

When we were talking about the truck, he randomly pulled out a revolver and started pointing it at the power lines and asking me if I could see "the giant ass bird looking at us???" There was no giant ass bird

I never wanted to get out of a situation so badly in all my life, but didn't want to do or say anything to set him off against me because he was obviously tweaking hard and hadn't slept in days. He took the cash and we left, had to tow the truck home because it didn't run...turned out to be an enormous pile of junk that I sold for parts a few weeks later. Was a big learning experience for me at 18 years old lol.

yup, I did learn quite a bit back then about working on an old Toyota though. But it had been torn apart by the tweaker and put back together haphazardly and was just too far gone for my lack of experience and money at the time...I just wanted a 4x4 real bad and thought I had scored a deal on one that just needed a bit of work. We did it get running but barely, and the 4wd didn't work at all. It had been SAS'ed at some point (was an '87 with a solid axle from an '85). The dude I sold it to was really stoked, no idea if he just used it for parts or tried restoring it but without a title it probably wasn't worth the effort and I'm sure he just used it for the parts.

When you're talking law enforcement agency's it is, a city of 100k might only have 75 or so sworn officers

Jesus, where was the self doubt.

I said what I could have done if I had chose a different path.

I think my tone was more annoyed than whiny but I guess that works.

I bought my Miller 180 from a tweaker. I’m 99% the six stripped BMW’s in his driveway were stolen.

I’ve bought and sold lots of things on Craigslist. Never had an issue except for one flake.

I list one thing on the Facebook Marketplace, and everything goes to shit.
