What's the price on that, I'm assuming 2x steel?

I'd love to save some weight but it wouldn't be as strong.

Driving home today on the 405 by the 22 I saw a nice new red sport that had the cbi front and rear bumpers, king suspension, cvt roof top tent & not sure which sliders.........looked soon nice!!

A buddy has the king suspension on his and it was like 5k.....that's not happening!

That sounds like a great setup. Rig must’ve been sweet to see. Kings are great shouldn’t be $5k!!

It's 350 more. Aluminum is plenty strong, but yeah will deform under hard hits. I'm not doing serious wheeling, but have already tagged my bumper on a log while wheeling. My sliders are steel, and when I get skids those will be steel as well.

This thread could become very expensive!

Which light bars are you guys installing in the bumper?

And did you get a switch to fit into the oem button slots?

Don’t make the same mistake I did, cheap out and get steel. Buy the aluminum! Your mpg and front shocks will thank you later!

Tell my front skid that. I’ve had to have a weld redone once and another broke last trip. Not a CBI IFS skid, but aluminum won’t take the same beating as steel.. and my last break was rubbing a rut o_O

Bare steel overland skids ordered :bananadance:

I'm guessing he means the bumper, and not the skids.

Aluminum skids are more like splash guards.

So here's the real question, what's the benefit of getting higher preload coils installed vs turning up the preload on a pair of adjustable coil overs?

    You.. could be right.

I have an aluminum front end, too. Not sure if I’d go aluminum again for it either, but it’s significantly lighter for sure.

This'll should relate to dirt bikes where the concept is you want to have springs that can support the weight of the rider and load and that will allow the travel of the shock to have it's full travel.

Cranking the preload on soft springs will support a load to a point but your suspension will not function correctly. If you have 15" of travel then you'd already be compressed and only have day 5"

I'm gonna have to put this to the test. The only way I can picture it not limiting travel is if the coils have enough clearance with the preload increased to compress all the way.

    Buy once, cry once!

I had a Rigid SR-20 but now running Heretic Studios LED and it fits perfect.

I outgrew switches and use a switch Pros instead. So much easier and cleaner.
