Find a friend with carista or techstream. Ive reprogrammed so many trucks now. I used carista for 30 days until the pro version expired. You can kind of get some additional 30 days if you install the app on a diff phone or tablet. I got 30 days from the iphone and 30 days from my andriod tablet. Anyhow, many folks have been putting the recent TSB on their trucks themselves and the folks who have the cable needed for that can run tech stream and redo it for you as well.

Pull the spring inside of the seatbelt. Easy peasy. Will never buzz again.

Not a fan of seatbelts myself, personal choice. Make passengers wear them though so waiting for the chime to stop is a non starter for me. Extender works just fine for my needs. Not a big fan of big brother telling me what I can or can't do. To some it may seem foolish but it's my choice. Call it civil disobedience. All choices have consequences, I'll take my chances.

I just traced the dimensions of the clip on a piece of paper and headed to the junkyard. Bought 2 from a Jeep (same pattern) for $2. Clip them in and no buzzer or warning.

And if you happen to live in a state with stringent vehicle inspections all you have to do is unbuckle it prior to the inspection. For 2 bucks you can't lose.

I am and while I really appreciate the offer because of our overzealous inspections I'll pass. Both kind and generous just the same. Have a great day Bud and thank you for the offer!:thumbsup:

Wish I had the same luck with dealers that y'all have, both Toyota dealerships in Colorado Springs flat refuse to "disable safety features". Really don't want to pony up the money for a 3rd party solution, but it's looking like I don't have much choice...

If you were near South Carolina I would do it for you. I have Techstream on a tablet and a VIM cable and I've disabled the chime in two different Tacomas now. I'm not going to unbuckle and buckle constantly riding around the sawmill. Its not really hard to do if you purchase the VIM on ebay and are halfway decent with a Windows PC.

Carista is awesome. The dealer refused to do mine and lectured me on wearing my seatbelt. They're not my dealer anymore. Carista let's you do it easily and there are a bunch of other settings you can play around with as well. AND it works with the torque app so you can use your phone to monitor all kinds of interesting things. It also pulls OBDII codes for pretty much every modern car so it's useful in diagnostics as well. Frankly, it's just freaking worth it to have, I leave mine in the center console.

    I appreciate the offer. What's a VIM?

I've been thinking about the Carista app, and maybe I'm just cheap, but after what I paid for the damn truck, I really don't feel like I should have to pony up even more money to "fix" things that I should be able to do standard, (and the dealer can do no problem, they just don't WANT to). And really, I mainly want the chime turned off for the passenger seat, that's where my pup usually sits. I also don't see myself doing much more to the truck electronics after turning all the chimes and beepers off; I can swing a hammer and build stuff, but engine mechanics aren't a strong point for me yet, so I feel like most of the info I'd get would go over my head. But, sitting around bitching about it won't solve the problem either, so I'll eventually have to do something. Thanks to everyone for all the information, this forum has been a huge help.

Cheapest, fastest way works 100% of the time. Take the metal thing hanging on the belt and insert into thing sticking up on other side of the seat!
