If I take you up on the tent I'll try and convince you there's still some up side to off roading. It's been an up and down thing with me in the past, but who knows, maybe you'll get bit by the bug again. If I had a 4x4 truck, I would feel remiss to not take it off-roading. Maybe overlanding is more up your alley? I see these people posting about their fancy rigs ($$$) with RTTs ($$$), built in solar ($$$), built in fridge ($$$), and built in kitchen box ($$$). The truth is you only need a tent, a cooler for some food, some time, and some chill people. Don't get wrapped up in the thought it's expensive and you likely won't break your truck if you're overlanding. Just my two cents.

I just got busy with work and life and I just kind of got over going out. I bought a place in Huntington Beach a few months ago and I just lost all interest in going out. My girlfriend wants to go camping so we'll probably go out every now and then but we both love the beach much more, and not having to drive anywhere is a plus. I do have an RTT though, which I love, but don't have all the other fancy equipment. I'll go camping again and maybe do some wheeling, but I'd just rather save the $200 I'd spend in gas for a weekend of driving and buy myself a new surfboard.

I have the Mavic (1st gen). I’ve never not liked camping. I love camping. I don’t love driving to go camping though  it’s why I moved to Huntington, so I only have to drive a maximum of 20 minutes anywhere I need to go

If that's the case, I'm in SD county, I will drive up to OC, but you have to come out camping. I need to find fellow Tacoma owners. If you hate driving, I'll tow your truck behind mine.
