On this trd the diff was the place the noise was coming from when they ran it on the lift. E9B41440-5BC8-4B02-9DB3-F510307908F3.jpg

I have and a case number has been issued. Got a letter from a V.Davis of the Toyota Motor North American Inc. in Plano Texas stating that the noise was NORMAL for my vehicle and as you well know is all BS. Just waiting to contact an attorney and see if there is enough evidence to start a class action suit. If we all stick together we might Toyota fix the problem.

And if not a fix... a buyback. Or a new truck that doesn't make noise. I won't accept "this is normal". Not after being told my truck is the first truck in the "entire region" to have this problem, among other things. It's either a problem or it isn't. It's as simple as that. My sense is that it's a big problem. I'm not an attorney. But this sure seems like "class action stuff" to me.

If I told someone about my diff problem and let them hear it, I'm almost certain I couldn't sell this truck for true market value. Why would someone buy it for market value when they could get one that doesn't howl?

^^ that's a rhetorical question. I'm not here to argue.

FYI-- In my experience, the case manager is simply an "information hub" and relay. There are times the case manager will know less than you do if you're also in touch with your local service manager (who may get info from regional service guys before that info makes it back to the case manager).

The local service manager is/may be in touch with both the case manager and the regional service guys who are essentially making the decisions regarding the diff howl (I think).

I'd advise anyone to follow up with their local service advisor every time you talk to your case manager. Tell them everything your case manager tells you. And vice versa.

There will be, at minimum, 4 parties involved.
    - You
    - the case manager
    - the local service manager
    - the regional service manager

You need to be your own advocate. You be the hub, rather than counting on the case manager to take care of everything.

Also, write down everything you discuss with anyone, every time you talk to someone, and also the dates.

I have had no fewer than 25 contacts made with "Toyota" over the course of the last ~2 months (I'd guess the actual number is closer to 30, I'm just ball parking here). And I still have the howl and have no idea what the future holds.

FYI, if you go to a dealer reference the winning on your Tacoma make sure you get them to put it in the computer and keep the service tab they stick on your rearview mirror and any an all paperwork given to you. I believe in some cases they are not putting the info. in the computer as to keep the service complaints down by NOT documenting them. Case in point I returned mine reference the whine and was kept for two hours and was told by the service tech. that they would contact Toyota and get back to me. NO PAPERWORK GIVEN to me.
