Under charged could cause a lack of lubrication too. I don't know too much about auto A/C systems, but I would certainly attribute the sudden failure to the service done several weeks ago...

In my experience that is far fetched to attribute a low charge and replacement of a schrader valve with a compressor failure. Someone not putting the correct amt. of oil in the system at the original replacement could slowly wear out the compressor and cause a second failure. Biggest thing is flushing the system after failure the condenser, evap core, lines and replacing the accumulator/receiver dryer and the orifice tube/expansion valve upon compressor failure. If you don't replace those 2 items and don't flush the system a lot of compressor manufacturers will void their warranty. It's like rebuilding an engine and not flushing all the oil galleys and leaving a bunch of metal in the engine to then go and wipe out the new bearings.

Wouldn't the compressor essentially cavitate? It's a pump with nothing to pump.

Not exactly the pressure sensors will kill the system at to high of a pressure or too low of pressure before that happens.

What about that company I forget the name of it local to SC hmmmmm I guess my CRS is getting to me:anonymous:

o_O They aren't really targeting anything overlanding. Tube bumper, beefed up steering rack, crawl box etc. They are doing their typical bread and butter minus the bumper. Targeting more the hard core off road crowd to me.

Maybe both??? A/C started blowing less cool, freon leaking. Maybe not properly drained and over charged? Who knows.

When I had work done- this time and 15 months ago- pass vent blew warm, diver cold. Happened both times. Replaced condenser both times.

Condenser failed at 34k miles 15 months ago- no one had touched it. They blamed it on debris in the line from factory.

What ever the cause, Toyota stepped up.

@SC2SC theres a recall rolling out for the 3rd gens a/c. Is it possible yours could be included in that even though it’s not a third gen?

Howdy guys, hope all is well. Been out of the loop past two days because things at work are kinda crazy right now. Being understaffed sucks...

And @SC2SC im sorry to hear about your AC system failing again, that has to be very frustrating.

Hmmm... worth looking into- although they are paying for this one.

    Extremely. Beyond Frustrating.

Dealer said Toyota agreed to replace condenser, even though it had been more than 12 months since it was replaced uneer warranty. (If I had paid cash for the repair- would have been warrantied for 36 months...o_O)

Dealer said Toyota wants consumer to pay a small portion, since no longer warrantied, but clearly not right. Dealer said usually 10-15% consumer pay. For me that was $84.xx.

    Whatever.

Could not argue as I am ATL now on business, and wife was dealing with it.

Just got home, on the board here in SC. Not my biggest but I’m pumped for a SC deer of this size. Had a good wind to access one of the swamps I wanted to hunt. He gave me a 40 yard quartering away shot. Blessed to say the least.

Gotta finish gettin him butchered up with this heat! Pretty pumped to have 3.5 months left and a pile of tags. SC hunting ain’t bad at all!

Spray waxed my pavement princess today and felt it was too pretty not to post. I’m very loyal to Colinite 845 and always use it, but the Meguiars ultimate quick wax makes the paint really pop for reasons unknown to me. Loved this pic so much that it’s my new avatar. The clear coat on the roof has failed despite my rigorous detailing, but I suppose that will happen when it’s been parked outside for over 10 years straight.

Very nice! Big bucks are rare here. Most people follow the "if it's brown it's down" rule so nothing grows big.

I did mine today as well. I used the turtle wax wax and dry. It was much needed. My roof has developed some little black flecks. They come off but I have to scrub. :notsure:

That's a good thing. There are way too many now and need to be thinned out. The bigger they are, the more damage they do.
