Here's my 5 Bed/5 Bath house in Hayward we bought brand new from the builder in 2005. Appraised at $1,400,000 - and the house down the street just sold for $1,700,000.

 

I'd love to retire there as well. My job sent me to Clarksville for a bit. I love that part of the state.

Cost of living here is ridiculous, but the pay in in-demand industries like tech and healthcare are through the roof. You can arguably make more money in the Bay Area than anywhere else in the country if you're in the right industry.
