Hello everyone. My 2000 Silverado is nearing the end of its life, which means time for a new truck. I've wanted a Toyota truck since forever and now's the time to get one. However, I do have a few concerns. Before posting in the 3rd Gen forum I'll try here.

Is it possible to get a 2018/19 TRD OR with a physical key? I do not want the smart key and push button ignition. I want a real key that I can turn! I'm seriously considering downgrading to the SR5 just for the key.

Is there any difference in mpg between the short bed and long bed?

Can I get an air dam mounted on the TRD OR? I would like the extra ~1mpg for on road driving.

    Thanks!

    Welcome!

If I’m not mistaken, there is no MPG difference between the cab and bed options. The only things that make a difference are 4 cylinder/V6 and 2wd/4wd.

Welcome to TW! Aside from just driving with a light foot there's not much you can do to improve your MPGs. Adding a tonneau cover might help if you are on the highway alot.

    Welcome!

It looks like the smart key/push button system is standard on TRD Offroad, unless you get a manual transmission, in which case it is not available. SR, SR5, or anything manual are your only options for physical key.

There are supposedly no differences in MPG (18/22) between the short and long bed, but long bed is not available in manual (to get you your key).
Unsure about mounting an air dam. Some say that the skid plate has the same relative function.

Here's the ebrochure to help you figure out what's standard/optional/not available: https://www.toyota.com/tacoma/ebrochure/
