So much drama in this Sens organization. Now I'm going to guess Duchene is gone since I doubt he wants a rebuild and was probably lied to by management. Stone will either get the C or go the same way. Anderson has also asked for a trade so who knows how that will go. Add to that the backlash from the fans being lied to by management and ownership. Its a complete tire fire in Ottawa right now, and I am for once embarrassed of this team. Now I know how the leafs fans have felt for the last 40 years.

If Matthews is so shallow that he can’t handle someone else that has more time on the ice and a proven leader having the C then maybe he shouldn’t have it either. If Bobby Orr can handle not being the C then I’m sure Matthews can. This not giving out the C is strange to me but I’ve seen Luongo be a captain so whatever I guess.

Agree. Seems to be the norm these days. Give it to the up and coming future star which is silly to me. Give it to the leader rather than the points leader. Babcock maybe is playing a slow hand but still feels like mollycoddling the new generation of players personally.

Not saying you are wrong but what you just said here, somewhat proves my point. When you have a guy that is basically supposed to be 1 of the faces of the league, into the next era (post Crosby Ovi), then it is 100% expected that he get the 'C'. However things were in the past is irrelevant. Now a days, the face of your team gets the 'C' even if it is before they would deserve it (in some people's eyes). So it is going to be looked at as abnormal if that kid doesn't get the 'C'. It's supposed to be 'his team'.

Just living in the old days I guess.
I liked the days of hearing Mess scream and yell at his team as they shit the bed and Iggy doing it too. You need someone to fire the team up when they decide to shit the bed for a period and usually it’s not the new guy from what I’ve seen but “the times they are a changin”

Nah if that was the thing then it wouldn’t even be up for discussion. Matthews is the face of the Toronto organization but they haven’t given it to him. I’m thinking Babs wants him to take control and have the team rally around him to get it. Babcock is old school I believe but still has to play the hand he’s dealt.

Exactly what I was thinking. Marleau is a stand up guy who people respect but will retire soon so why give it to him but is a great person to learn from, and Tavares well I’ve heard enough shitty stories about his attitude from close friends so nah, but Matthews still has some opening up to do and possibly will be a great leader but if he was put in the same place that McD was he would be struggling too but at least Matthews has someone to watch and take notes from. Damn all McDs got is old man Lucic who is the worst contract in years.

Likely, which I can respect. However, I just don't like throwing a punch at a dude who obviously has no interest in fighting...especially in the preseason....especially a guy who has concussion history. He probably would have plenty of other opportunities to get that point across. I realize there was a cross-check that lead to that, but still. I dunno, just my opinion.

I think he's having a hearing. I mean, it wasn't a super serious offense but just a punk move, I think.

Obviously you watched the video so you can see where for yourself. Not saying I agree or that it was worthy of Domi's reaction, but apparently he didn't like it.

I was wondering if it happened prior to the above video. Sorry, I should've mentioned that.

Later in the video you can see what looks like a slash / crosscheck, which I would consider barely worth mentioning. From reading twitter last night, that was what those defending Domi had mentioned. After seeing it, I rolled my eyes, but everyone sees things differently, I suppose.

Yup was so painful. But all it took was one person in Shanahan to change it. Person after person just did the same shit but he finally stopped it

Poor Oz, seems the rebuild has finally entered the actual brain after penetrating the skull. At this point denial will last for a while but it's just part of the process
In reality I am loving this Pettersson kid, that's how it starts you hit these picks and then eventually add a top guy
But fuck the Canucks you heard it here first

It seems kinda lame just suspending him for just the preseason games. I heard on the radio this morning that the CBA makes no distinction between preseason games and regular season games. So now he is a repeat offender who has been suspended for I think four games, and if something happens he will be punished even more severely next time.
