I'm not aware of one. In fact my not cheap Snap-on will change settings on my friend's VW but not on my truck. J2534 pass through is the way to go. That's going to be my Christmas present to myself.

So for you guys that use S5 how does driving in that mode and adding ECT interact? I tried it and it seemed with ECT on to add somewhat just like ECT on in D but not sure

They are exactly the same. ECT doesn't work any differently between D and S mode.

You are correct, but limited to 5th. Not sure I ever saw 5th in ECT using D but never used it on the highway. Will try that soon.

You may find you don't need ect when in s mode. I don't care for the long shifts in ect so I never use it.

ECT also changes the throttle feel. It's not just different shift parameters.

That what I assumed would happen, but I see too much fluctuation for it to be cumulative. I will say most of the time it's real close to 22mpg, but it only takes one trip to the mountains to cause a big jump and then another average tank commuting for it to go back to more or less normal.

Maybe your tank to tank is more stable so the overall is also more stable.

Posted this in another thread but thought i share my experience here.

Short story: 100% Much better driving experience.
No abnormal surge, Smooth shifting in town and on highway, holds gear longer and therefore easily maintains speed uphill.

    Long story:
So yesterday i got the ECU reflashed to their latest TSB 0062-18. They drove 10 miles per mileage pics i took before/after.
Driving in town from the dealership to home, it was noticeably smoother and kinda the truck felt light because the trottle response and acceleration was smooth, not jerky or surge acceleration.

This morning going on highway, it felt smooth and lean. Going up hill where the truck usually struggles to maintain speed on same pressure on the gas pedal. It now holds gear and moves smooth. I didn’t need to apply more pressure on the gas pedal to maintain speed which results in surge of accelration then drops then i have had to repeat. It used to struggle keeping 60-65mph with light pedal pressure going on uphill, not anymore.

I dont understand how others experience their truck reverting back to the sh*tty acceleration. Hope mine doesn’t. Pretty sure ECU reflash are permanent update unless new ones applied over it.

Will keep updating you guys but for now I’m very satisfied. The truck drives like it should!!!!

Also, changed the turn signal blinker from 3-6 blinks. Charged me $57.50.
They couldnt disable door chime, said its part of safety module? Which is part of seatbelt etc..etc..

    Update:
Today drove some more in town and on highway. And I now have another word for TSB-0062-18, i call it “Refined ECT mode”.

    I remember OVTune stating that all 4 modes are different, d, s, d-ect, s-ect.

Got it done today. Seems a little smoother so what? More important it down shifts sooner when dipping into the throttle whether level or going up hill. Used to hold lower gear even after cresting hill and starting down. No more. Now shifts up as soon as a hill is topped. Its a difference and I like the improvement.

Even after cresting a hill, I'm back to it hanging on to the lower gear for 1/8 mile. It was better right after the tsb. But it's back to its old habits after 2k miles.

The computer learning still occurs in D after getting the TSB. So it will not continue to drive exactly like it does right after the tsb.

But yes, overall it's an improvement.

How can I minimize or stop this ECU computer learning? I would hate for the current driving experience to fade away... its the 2nd day after the ECU flash and it drives perrrrfect! I can’t imagine going back to that pre-flash, it was horrible!

If you want anything else tweaked, grab the Carista OBDII dongle off Amazon for $20 bucks, download the associated app and tweak all that crap yourself for 30 days. If you forget to cancel the subscription, as I did, the app is $40 bucks a year after that.

I don't believe door chime can be disabled. Seatbelt, yes. Door chime, no.

Stock suspension, stock wheels, stock bumper, stock, stock, stock, dammit!
My truck has DId after the update. Sometimes it shifts close to normally, and then it acts like an unbroke horse, then a granny, then a libra!
