I don't need A/C tonight (It's in the 20s here in Southeast PA), but I always like my A/C...

If I built myself a V8 Tacoma, it'd be a daily driver and would have to have air-conditioning!

    Hey Charlie,

I had a 2001 Ford Ranger with 147,000 miles on it. Here's what your co-worker can expect with her truck:

    1. At about 120,000 miles the spark plugs need to be changed out. If coils are required it can run $500 unless you do it yourself.

    2. Make sure she has the radiator flushed EVERY YEAR. The reason is that if the car sits outside and never garaged, the ethylene glycol breaks down and turns to acid. This wreaks havoc on every seal and gasket it comes in contact with. If it's not changed out regularly then:

    3. Heater core goes out.

    4. Head gaskets need replaced. If not, then head gaskets get blown and she'll need a new engine. In fact some suggest that the head gaskets are such a pain that many times it's better to just swap out another engine.

    5. Also the water pump tends to go out around 125,000 miles. Mine was fine but this is a known problem.

Most people bail out of these trucks before 150,000 miles.

The key is to change the radiator fluid/coolant every year and this will stave off the majority of the problems.

If the car totally craps out, then salvage shops will give $100 for it and haul it away. Better to get $1,000 for trade than $100 for salvage.

I'm glad I traded mine in before it fell totally apart.

I liked my Ranger, but I love the Taco wagon

2009 RC 5-lug auto with less than 60K miles; Appears to be in mint condition and does not have a price, which means the dealership probably wants way more than even a low mileage Tacoma is worth...

    See? No price...

    IMG_9495.jpg

I would also like to point out how incorrect this window sticker is...

For starters, this truck most certainly DOES NOT have intermittent wipers. Also, the window sticker fails to list the A/C and CD player!

This appears to be the backup camera that goes nowhere...

    IMG_9499.jpg

How do I figure? Well, the most obvious clue is that this truck has the shit factory radio. The rear view mirror also does not have a wire going to it.

Perhaps the truck was rear-ended and the tailgate came from a wrecked SR5?!?!

Just found it, and it's actually at their Doylestown location.

They're literally asking for a 9-year old, 56K mile truck what my dad paid for mine NEW!

    Or $5K worth of booze...

Or pieces a new sectional sofa from Costco...

Or a vintage Zenith solid state record player (big as a console TV)...

    Or a refrigerator...

    Or a Barcalounger...

    Or pieces of a deck...

Just some of the things I've hauled with my 5-lug RC!

Just because they are asking more , doesn't mean they will get it ask high, sell lower to KBB or lower
They are probably trying to make $6k at that price

If something happened to my truck again (I got rear-ended by a texting driver and sideswiped by a drunk driver in a span of less than 8 months) and insurance writes it off, I'd buy this white truck and just transfer my stereo system and other stuff to it.

    Heh.

    Well....
    1) Its sitting at a Volvo dealer? That doesn't mean that it was traded in ON a volvo. Sometimes marketing demands that you put something in a location where it stands out.
    2) Even if it was... maybe dude and his wife are having a baby and can't justify owning the truck any more. RC doesn't fit much in the way of backseat demons.

I'm more shocked about how much the Volvo dealer is asking...

    Exactly...

The typical demographic shopping at a Volvo dealer would not be looking for a base model pickup.

By the way, I think Volvo has lost its way and hasn't been itself since the late 1990s. Nowadays, they're just bland and overpriced European land yachts.
