Any PC Builders Out There?

First time building a water cooled rig. Need to redo some bends

The only other thing I'm seeing with issues like this is having to send it back to Asus.

Something about changing the date to a certain year and typing some gibberish in password recovery or something.

 

Well, Ive had some success.
I was able to enter bios password, enter login password and uninstall the sound (realtec) drivers before the screen froze up.
Normally it would freeze within a minute of logging in. So far, ive been up for at least 10 mins.
This was an issue a few years ago.

the only issue im seeing right now is its running 20 degs higher than previous and I cant find anything running to cause this.
Mess with it later.

 

laptops can be the worst when they get little gremlins, my buddy just bought a asus laptop and after 3 weeks he's already getting blue screens of death. wack

 

Looks great man. You ever check out pcpartpicker? There are some nice custom loops that pop up on there time to time. I would like to do a custom liquid system, but really no need for me to.

 

Still happy with my evga 1080's in SLI and this build is a few years old. No need for upgrade yet.

 

Will have to look those up, but I do know that when I was rebuilding my daughter's gaming rig I kept the same video card. It had been a while since I looked up performance benchmarks and was pretty disappointed in the progress over the last couple of years. Potential gain was <10%, no point in spending as much on the video as I did on the rest of the computer for that.

 

people think its going to tower over the 1080ti plus be able to hold a steady 60fps with ray tracing. good luck with that.

 

Yea, this Asus is about 8 yrs old. Still a great little system. Thank goodness there's still ROG owners out there and some of the boards are still updated.

Update: re downloaded realtek drivers and benchmarked with passmark. All systems running and the temp is back down to a respectable 53 at idle.

 

I've still got a pair of evga 770 superclocked cards if anyone is looking for projects. Lan box, etc. 4 gig cards.

 

Here's my passmark rating between the laptop and my gaming rig. I'm quite surprised of some of the scores.

I'm running raid 0 840 evos on the gamer but the single disk 850 evo on the laptop and the laptop scores higher? Wtf.

Is there a universal benchmark tool that everyone is using so we could compare scores/hardware?

Or seperate benchmarks for graphics, men, disk, cpu. If we are all using the same price, that would easier for people to help diagnose issues.

 

Not sure running Raid 0 on an SSD would actually improve performance since it is designed for spinning disks, but I haven't researched how it might work with SSD. There might be a slight bit of extra overhead you don't need.

EDIT: It appears that something is up with that benchmark. According to a Tom's HW test, RAID 0 should almost double the performance using SSD. The performance gain appears to be due to utilizing two parallel channels, not the "striping" like it would do with spinning disks.

 

Yea, I've got some figuring out to do. I've ran raid 0 on disks since 1996 and also ssd since it's been out. Always had a huge performance increase.

I'll have to try some seperate disk benches maybe this weekend. Something is def up.

 

how full are the ones on your gaming rig?

 

The 2x250, 840 evo in raid 0 are about 70% full. That would certainly explain some of the loss but still.

 

I’m happy with my 970, but then again the fact that I got it for free also makes me very happy!
