So between the Xenon Depot H4 LED Extreme and H4 HID Volt Kit, which is brightest? It seems they're both similarly priced.

Just found out this morning one of my low beams on my 2nd gen has gone out. 'Ol girl has 170k miles so not looking to break the bank; I'm in between these and a "130%+" Halogen replacement.

Any Xenon Depot Group Buys or forum discounts I should be aware of?

HID would be the brighter option but for a reflector housing, we recommend going with a LED kit for a better beam pattern.

Unfortunately, we don't have any forum specific discounts at this time but check out our Promo Page for the latest discounts.

Does this LED kit get warm enough to keep the headlights ice/snow free? This is my main concern with winter coming up..I plan on doing a lot of driving this winter and don't want to have frozen over headlights every storm.

No. All the heat from an LED is on the driver outside of the headlight assembly.

You can swap in an H9 for a good bump in output and retain the halogen IR output to melt snow. Output bumps from ~1250 lumens to 2100 lumens.

HIDs get warm enough though, right?

Yes, both LED and HID will heat up enough that it won't cause the headlights to stay frozen. We're based in Canada so we do experience the cold winter months as well and with the HID or LED installed in our own vehicles we've never had an issue.

I have not had the opportunity to test them in a heavy snow but there was sufficient heat for a light snow. I don't think any LED kit will provide enough heat for a substantial snow event.

With that said, I've had the headlights get covered with halogen bulbs in major snow events.

I've actually given some thought to this myself. Especially since my commute is 44 miles one way, and a major portion is on the highway. So it's not like I can just pull over at will to clear them. But my thoughts are, if I wanted to I could tap into the washer fluid line with a T fitting and run a line back to the headlights and add nozzles to some part of the area around them. Maybe just a temporary fix, or maybe something cleaner looking so it could be permanent.

With the higher than average rainfall we've seen here in the mid east I have a feeling this winter will be a doozie so I'm waiting to see what transpires either way.

Are the leds for the plate lights that robP posted earlier the best option. I had bought some with a single led and a somewhat white dome but man do they get the glare on the camera

Dude I've gone through like three different sets of Amazon LEDs now in the license plate. They've all done this after a couple of months. I dunno what the deal is. I know you get what you get with cheap bulbs, but I feel like there's something else going on.

Can anyone suggest some LED bulbs for the license plate that have held up for a long time?

What's the best option for front blinkers? The stock bulbs seem so dim and scattered to me. I'm ready to upgrade.

Sooo, new guy here. Got my ‘18 off road in cement yesterday. I just ordered the XD H11 LED headlight kit, but is there a new compilation of the other bulbs? I understand an enormous effort went into all this testing, but I didn’t read all of it due to the changes.

Take a look at the Philips 194 LED bulbs or the Xtreme 194 LED bulbs! The difference between the two would be the brightness and color, the Xtreme ones are brighter with a 5500K white color while the Philips ones are rated for 6000K.

    Here's a direct comparison picture:

Check out the Philips 7440 LED bulbs or the Xtreme 7440 LED bulbs for you'll front turn signal. You'll need the resistors as well to prevent hyper flashing.

Great choice but what were you looking to further find out?

Do you need resistors for the Phillips on license plate lights?

    No on license plate LED's.
You don't want your license plate bulbs to bright!
I've had good look at Superbrightleds.

No, you don't need resistors for the license plate bulbs or any other light on the Tacoma besides the turn signals.

The H11 Xtreme LED Pro Kit you linked is only for the low beams as it includes two LED bulbs and two LED drivers. If you want to upgrade the high beams as well then you'll need to purchase a 2nd kit.

I have some JDM ones up front, and they are BRIGHT and I haven't had any issues with them in the 7ish months I've had them installed, plus they were only $19.99. I did not need resistors for them either. When I did rear LED turn signals, I needed only 1 resistor in the rear on the passenger side.

I also have some JDM bulbs from Amazon for the front turn signals. As long as you just do the front you wont need resistors.
