I’ve been on 04B13 TSB software for a few weeks now. For the first time ever I achieved 20 mpg tank average on the highway on my trip from Raleigh to Brevard NC. Normally I see 17 mpg on that trip.

My short commuting economy has also improved going from 13.5 to 15 mpg.

One other thing I changed around the same time is switching to only BP gas. I was previously running Shell gas. On unbranded gas, like Sheetz, my economy was closer to 15 mpg HW and 12.5 city.

I’m hoping it’s just bad gas right now. Can’t remember where I filled up after the initial tune, but the last several fill-ups have been while Florence’s ugly mug was around (I’m just SE of Fayettenam).

I’ll burn this tank until the lights on and fill it up someplace reputable.

Do we know if the source of the rev hang is in the ECU and something that can be fixed in 1.05?

Who is all on 1.04R 91 file? Have you tried it over the 87 file? Thoughts?

I ‘m on 1.04R 91 octane. Honest assessment... i dont think it has as much power increase as 1.04A. It seems a little smoother driving, but i used To be able to chirp tires going into 2nd gear with 1.04A on dry pavement. Now i cant.

Overall power might be slightly down but the drivability is way better. No more second gear bog. I can accelerate from 2k rpm on a incline now. I thought my gas mileage was down on 1.04R from 1.04 but it was actually up almost a mile per gallon.

My MFD fuel economy read out is all sorts of confused (between towing and updating to 1.04R) but my actual fuel economy is up over 1.04

Good morning, does anyone have any first hand experience with 04B13 and 1.04R's ability to deal with fluctuations in temperature? Is it equal to or better than 1.04, 1.03, etc?

I doubt there will be any noticable difference that can be felt by the driver, except during cold winter months. I would say so far it is better in every way over previous tunes.

on the previous ov files up to 1.04 my MT was indeed super sensitive. it's been consistently 100+here, but the occasional day in the 90's would bring big change with driveability/power delivery.

i applied the tsb a couple weeks ago and 1.04R one week ago, it's been similar temps and i haven't noticed that sensitivity at all since the tsb. probably need more info cus it's still above 80F here.

Thanks for the replies! I'm not surprised to hear that some owners experience sensitivity to temperature while others do not. Being one of those whose truck is sensitive to temperature changes, it's promising to hear that the new tsb and tune have shown improvement, i.e. less sensitivity to changes in temperature.

    1.04R 87 octane build
In the mornings the temp is in the high 50’s. The engine will stutter using 87 gas. 2nd gear 2000 rpm. When engine warms up don’t get the stutter.

I filled up half tank of 89 so the gas is a blended 88. Don’t get the stutter with the higher octane.

It is from the ECU and most likely will not be fixed in 105.
The issue of REVHANG and DFCO has been brought up several times but will have to wait till tune gets finalized.
