I went sliders as i made sure my truck did not have the steps you have. I'd say sell those and get sliders.

Sliders prevent costly cosmetic damage; skids prevent costly mechanical damage. Just take it easy with experimenting until you get both. One nice thing about sliders I don't feel like I need to park at the empty end of the parking lot everywhere I go.

    Welcome! Nice Taco!!

I am in the same boat! Luckily I found some RCI skids at a great discounted price, so I picked up the front and tranny skid already. My advice is to go for the sliders! They are more expensive and Ive already hit my panels....wah,wah! Im about a month out for sliders myself, but they are a must if you are going to wheel anything besides dirt roads....a step and coverage....cant beat it!

I say some meatier tires first, 265 something with puncture resistance, add an 1'' of lift, more grip, can air down and wont leave you stranded on the trail. Then sliders. Then skids.

I've definitely heard the front factory skid scrape once already and the steps have come close. Kind of on the fence between relentless and mobtown sliders

Fwiw, even though for some reason everybody on here thinks the factory skids will literally explode into a million pieces if you look at them too hard, I've yet to actually see someone post an image of a broken factory skid. I also know I have banged the absolute crap out of mine and they still work.

Sliders, however save your rockers, double as steps, and are incredibly useful for pivoting on tight trails.

It really just depends on what kind of wheeling you're gonna be doing, and if you want to play defense (sliders and armor) or offense (better tires) first

Sliders. You already have some skid protection because you have an OR. Damaging your rocker panel is probably/likely $1,000+ to fix - which is more than a quality set of sliders will cost you.

Factory skid can take a beating and give you the audible warning to stop from going further. Rocker panels have no warning if you don’t have a spotter watching you and aren’t paying attention it will be costly. Get the sliders first.

(Additionally the tin you see is 1/8th however let’s not forget there are two rails hidden behind for more strength to some degree.)

The factory jack point on the subframe caught my truck when I say it down on large rocks when I had the factory skid plates. I got sliders before aftermarket skid plates because I got an amazing deal on some. I did some pretty good trails before getting either and had no damage other than the skidplate. Just be careful either way if you're wheeling your new truck.

Sliders..... the mechanical components under the truck are a little more robust than your rocker panels.

Wow, That skid has taken quite a beating! I'm currently living in Mississippi and there isn't really any good trails that I've found. Mostly just gnarly mud holes. I would really love to move somewhere that has more rocky trails. Idk where that might be though lol

silders were the first thing I did for my truck. They saved my cab on my first outing. Then again, we have a tight trails here in western washington.

    Work in progress...
It looks like the factory skid plate is capable of more than I thought it was. I am super careful and I have had to turn around a few times because I don't have sliders. I guess I am in the market for some sliders, once again.

Not much in the South in general. Out West, there is a lot of public land. It's unfortunate that we're all private land.

Where in Mississippi are you? I grew up around Vicksburg.

I will say that taking a trip to Big Bend National park or even New Mexico isn't a terrible drive from where you are. It's very beautiful country.

I'm in Biloxi. I've given seriously thought about moving to Colorado, Utah, New Mexico or Arizona though. I came here because I met a girl and that didn't work out. So I don't see a lot of reason to stay. I tried bass fishing because a lot of people say that's big here but I'm terrible at it lol.

Please don't to many people moving here already. You cant afford it anyhow :rofl:so expensive these days. Really sad to see what it's become in the past 5 years. Lots of flatlanders. But I did front skid and sliders at the same time and highly recommend that.
